Happy Thanksgiving to All!!!

Find Time For You This Holiday Season….and the little things you love!

I have shared my love of all things holiday with you guys…it seems to be part of my DNA! I do run into all the same pressures that you do…the ticking clock, the planning of meals and gatherings….the lists…..the excitement while lovely, can certainly leave you a bit….well…simply put, drained!!! I can always tell when I need to take a moment and squeeze in some time for me or some quiet brain time…I can find this in all sorts of ways..thought I would share some of my thoughts with you…and please do tell me….what you do…we would all love to know how you manage your time over the holidays?!!!…

Cheers…Peace & Love!!

My thoughts on managing the holiday hoopla!

* I order most of my gifts online from the comfort of my lovely red folly…. (my library) cup of tea in hand, I navigate with no sweat, no stress and no back breaking bags!
* I always take in a movie or two over the holiday season with my lovely man at my side.
* I decorate our house…slooooowly….and I enjoy every tiny morsel of that time.
* I keep the house smelling fabulous with mulling spices in wine or cider…. I love, love, love this smell!!!
* My husband John and I always set aside some nights just for us to go out and have appetizers and a glass of wine..then a slow spin around the bookstore…so good!
* Send cards only if it truly makes you happy to. I do love to send them, but I send far less now than I did years ago….(getting wiser!)
* When I wrap presents…It is always at night. I put on wonderful music, pour a glass of wine… I go slowly. I try to wrap each gift in an inspired, but not exhausting way.
* I always like to go for high tea at least once each holiday. (three tiers of desserts and little fancy sandwiches….kind of puts me over the top!)

Tracy Porter Be Extraordinary Video: Giving of Yourself!

tracy porter site wide sale
Giving of Yourself!

I’m such a believer in life running full circle… most everything you give… will come back to you in beautiful ways. Thoughtfulness, i find, has huge paybacks… to your heart and soul mostly. The days, weeks, and years speed by so fast… take a moment when you can to give a little piece of yourself to someone who needs you. The joy you will feel is warm and fulfilling…. in a way that only you will know. Gifts of thoughtfulness are truly the most special form of giving.

Tracy Porter’s tips for giving of yourself:

* write a note to someone dear
* an unexpected phone call, email of visit can make such an impact
* send a little gift to someone you haven’t seen in a while
* remember birthdays
* hold a child’s hand; hold a friends hand; hold a parent’s hand
* be a good listener
* share a meal with someone who needs the company
* volunteer (one day, my goal is to read stories to kids at the library… what’s your wish?)
* ask questions
* say thank you
* be in the moment

Embrace the sweetness of Life!

xoxox,

T.

Emotional surrender…

I am completely giddy with excitement over our upcoming fall collection… (I know, I know, it can’t get here soon enough… for you OR for me!!) But alas, patience is a virtue… (Well, at least I am constantly telling myself this.) And of course there are some amazingly beautiful, classic (with a twist) baubles from our summer line that I still cannot tear my eyes off of…… like our stunning Filigree Locket! (OK, so I just had to yell across the studio so Sarah could prompt me on the name… but that’s beside the point!!) Oh! And, best of all… sorry to digress yet again…… but with our HUGE SITE WIDE SALE starting today, you can get her for a song!!! (If you haven’t heard, almost everything is now 50-70% off, including furniture! How ’bout it?? Maybe I should pause for a moment here as you all go shopping???) So, right….. back to the necklace!! Isn’t this piece divine!?!? I swear, the girls at the studio are about to rip it off my neck, I wear it so often…… There’s just something uniquely timeless about this beauty that I absolutely love… From her classic pearl baubles, to her bejeweled toggle closure, to her intricately carved, oversized golden locket… She has such wonderful grace and movement… She still makes me a little breathless, whenever I put her on…… I’m curious, are the rest of you as sentimental about lockets as I am?? Do you keep photos or scraps of old love notes tucked away inside? I’d love to hear some of your stories!! xoxo, T.

Emotional surrender… returning home

Ah, the long, hot, lazy days of summer…… This time of year makes me squirrelly to be outside as much as possible… whether it’s in my garden, out by the marsh, or out on our screen porch. Mind you, most weeks at the studio are insanely wild (and I love every minute of them… my head is literally spinning with the juicy goodness of it all… designing new fashion goodies for our holiday catalog… planning our next research trip… being inspired at every turn… but I digress!!). While I absolutely live for these moments (and think I would go crazy without the much-needed adrenaline rush)… it’s the evenings and weekends spent at home that I seem to cherish the most. (Don’t we all??) After a full day of rollicking in the marsh… or playing (read: weeding) out in the garden… it’s great to gather out on the porch and sip ice cold lemonade (for the boys) or mojitos (for John and me). We have a fantastic screen porch enclosed on top of a huge stone slab facing the marsh… and this exquisite bamboo and rattan table set is the quintessential go-to item out there!! (I’ll admit – we have surrendered… completely.) The boys absolutely love it as their game table during the afternoon (bonus that they’re in the shade while the sun’s rays are at their hottest). Then at night we clear it off and let them have their own “big kids” table during dinner. Summer entertaining is of course on my radar as well… and this charming set is simply smashing when we have guests! I’ve been known to push the table off to the side, toss a pretty throw over it, and create a lovely impromptu buffet… and then sprinkle the chairs here and there for extra seating. Or, when a favorite auntie offers to look after the boys (thanks, Robyn!!) John and I will enjoy an intimate evening for two, dining under the stars… (Function + Fantasy… Who knew?!) Mind you, if dining al fresco isn’t your gig, this table and chair set is just as sweet perched in a breakfast nook… or as a lovely addition to an indoor sun porch for reading, playing games, and more! So, you know me…… I’d love to hear… Are you as smitten with this set as I am?!?!

Emotional surrender…

Instantly twinklingstylish and dashing… fetching and fabulous… Just a few words to capture the sensibility of slipping into one of these lovelies… I know many of you have already surrendered to them… I know I certainly have! I mean, what isn’t to love about delicious embroidery, spot-on color, and rollicking good fun? (I, for one, am smitten.) The girls at the studio asked me to take a few twirls in front of the camera to show you how luscious these statement pieces really are… our Modern Vintage CoatFancy Free SweatshirtA Fetching Coat… I realize this is just a taste of our amazing fashion… We’ll have more for you soon! As always, please do share your favorites… It’s so fun to hear!

Emotional surrender…

I am going to give you my thoughts every few weeks on this topic… We all have them… an “emotional surrender” that is! In the studio it changes from week to week… I love knowing what our team is digging… I am pretty vocal about mine! I figured the video would give it to you straight… no fluff… Just exactly what I am thinking in a few quick moments… also kind of nice to see things on someone… Don’t you agree?!? This extra chatter is for those of you that just needed a few more words on the topic… (And you know I can talk!)

Okay… The Gordian Knot… The bracelet of bracelets… over the top… kills me! I have one in my purse right now to take home. (You think I’m kidding.) Straight out of our sample tray! Classic, elegant… a statement without looking like wonder woman.

The Fragments of Beauty ring… I gave it today as a gift, and then sort of “lost it” right then and there as she slid it onto her finger… Mind you, I have loved it all along… but I think with a bit of additional girl talk on it, I was “in”… I decided I too must have one!

Ahhhhh… The Soulful Glam necklace… not too much about this beauty that you can’t see for yourself… but since this is my chance… I have this love affair happening with gold coins! My mother has always had gold coin jewelry, so I’m certain she has yet again inspired me and my tastes… I think this beauty feels vintage… the sort of gem I would hope to find at some great auction in London. Shall we dance??

Emotional surrender…

Oh, how I have… to the LOTUS COFFEE TABLE… Perhaps this sounds odd? Surrender to a coffee table? Can it be?? You might think… a new pair of leopard shoes… or a fabulous shirt… Not today!! Today, it’s this… this one. This scrumptious one! And this is why… We just rearranged all of our furniture in our great room at home, and have made a wonderful new reading spot… I NEED this most luscious table right there!!! Loving, just loving it! I love bamboo, as you know (another weakness). It’s a scorching gem, this one… and quite perfect near a couch (or in my case, a few overstuffed chairs)… I knew when I was designing this beauty exactly what she had to be… I am very inspired by Moroccan looks… I thought the layer of black hand-painting would be delicious with all the other elements. It somehow manages to be refined, enchanting… and quite handsome, all at the same time. I love the idea of it on an old, tattered red oriental rug… or on a gorgeous black wood floor… all beaten and worn with age. I love that I can sit near it (or our kids can) and play a game while sitting on a pillow on the floor… We are pretty laid back in our home, and things really do get used… I know that this spicy number will end up with scratches from matchbox cars rolling over her, or whatever else our children choose to drag across her top… It’s all good to me… and my emotional surrender will be entirely satisfied!!! Stay tuned…
