Hi Tracy,
I just printed the Bread Pudding recipe and plan to try it (sometime!). It has a heck of a lot of ingredients though. My recipe criteria is for as few ingredients as possible. But, I do trust your opinion, and know this must be a great dish. That is because I have made your corn pudding recipe several times (we LOVE it, and also I love it’s only 4 ingredients), and I’ve also done your shortcakes, which are yummy too. So, I may actually take your recommendation and try this recipe. I really love that you are doing this blog! I love your philosophy of design and of life. Keep it coming!!
Tracy…you mention wearing a big beautiful cocktail ring during the day…I need more, what’s the word…moxie!? I completely love your rings, the handbags, the shoes, the coats…yet I just can’t get up the nerve to wear them. Where does your confidence come from? (or maybe I need to question my lack of confidence!)
OH, Mary!!! Ok, my blog mistress ( our fabulous gal who posts all of the cool comments you guys make) just told me I had to read your note! I love you already! So…listen….You just need to do it! First of all it’s way to much fun to wear a cocktail ring…I have on jeans and messy hair today, my nails are never painted and I usually have some food particle on my shirt from kissing our baby in the morning..( peanut butter or something…aren’t you glad to know this!) and I am wearing a big cool gold cuff and a fabulous cocktail ring…and it just makes me feel more pulled together top to bottom …and ….I am my OWN WOMAN after all! This is nothing more than that! YOU ARE TOO !! Even if you dress simply or very conservatively some fabulous accessories will set you apart and make you feel amazing. No need to break the bank…just a few cool little ditties…..SO, let me know when you jump in!! You’ll never come back once you do….(put on a cocktail ring that is.) p.s. pardon any spelling errors…no spell check with this…bad news for me

Just stumbled across this place through your amazing catalog… what a treasure I found in the mail! I dog eared several pages for gift ideas, even more for myself! The blog was even more of a bonus, it went so well with my coffee and pumkin bread this morning! I wanted to say that I too have four kids (three are boys). We have “Family Dinners” about four nights a week and they always include candle light! I believe the most special occasion of all is a meal with your family. The table is always set and the candles are lit. ( the kids help, of course). When we have sleepover guests I can tell they are a little surprised by the “atmo” around here! I think it makes the kids stay at the table longer, and I know it makes them feel special.
I can’t believe that you may actually read this…I’ve been collecting your dinnerware and home decor for over 15 years. I’m a huge fan!
I am a stay at home mom and I’ve been really making an effort to dress less boring. It can be difficult, as I don’t really like to be scrubbing toilets and such in cashmere and heels. I have a couple of chunky rings made of silver with turqoise and lime colored murano glass. I get more compliments on those rings…they really get noticed.
My family and I have a candlelight dinner about once a week. The kids love it, and it even makes hot dogs seem elegant…plus, you can’t see all the dust bunnies when you use candlelight.
Oh, i just love you girls!! Love all the good stuff you write. We have our own knitting circle right here, all we need are the candles and some wine! Yes, I do read all of these, I try to get in here as often as I can…sorry if I get late on the back and forth, but I do love it. I think family dinners would truly change the entire state of our country if only more people could commit to them. I know it doesn’t work for everyones sched. and we all have realities etc. but yes, we are HUGE believers that a nightly dinner with the kids is very important to all. Not only do we enjoy the food we make together but sitting across the table and asking each other questions is huge….we encourage the boys every night to ask questions of each other, just so they really get that family time really means we are all ” interested” in each other. I could go on and on with this one…. oh and yes, I am all for dimming the lights at night to hide the dust bunnies, 3 day old cheerios etc.

I have viewed your impromptu interview and I have to say that my husband and I also can not remember what we did before our children arrived. I agree with all that is being said about the family dinners. It really helps us all reconnect. We like to play a little game at our table that we stole from a movie. What we do is go around the table asking each other what the high point and low point was of our day. This really gets us thinking about all that we did taht day and gets some good conversations going. Even my 5 year old loves it. Thanks to all of you. Tami
