Fine Art For One and All
OK…Check this out! This very cool guy named Vincent recently introduced himself to me…and I love what he does!! He is a smarty…without a doubt. Vincent is an art dealer that started this cool website COLLEGE ART ONLINE to encourage all of us to buy fine art made by college students….! Very cool indeed…and imagine, you are doing all sorts of good for these young artists. For instance….maybe you’ll be helping them with tuition by supporting their art…and the way I see it college tuition is way pricey these days…and only becoming crazier by the
minute. ( this way they also may eat more than mac & cheese from the box…) You are getting in on the goods before a gallery owner snatches these brilliant minds and their talents up and they become officially ” Gallery Artists” ..which is so cool…but don’t you want to be “the discoverer”. I have spent some time digging around on this website…loads of goodness to
see, something for everyone…eclectic and fabulous! I asked my friend Vincent if I could feature a few of the gems from his site….

A FLOATING MEMEORY OF LOVE by Sean Deckert
I love this….any sketch book like stuff intrigues me..sort of like seeing
the process, it fascinates me.

ALICANTE 2 by Drane Leon
Love the colors…love the movement….elegant….

BATHING WOMAN by Krystal Kuhn
Marvelous….so interesting…love her, love her toes…love the
colors…stunning.

ST. TIENS by Logan Dyme
Simple grace . A handsome piece. This just makes me calm….art will always
give you a feeling, you should buy what makes you feel good.

GISELLE by Jennifer Bakalar
A beautiful piece. I love the sepia feel…I would put this anywhere.

STILL ALIVE .08(1) by Ruben Coen-Cagli
Quirky and delicious. Makes me smile.
I could have picked scores of these gems..so much to choose from…photos, sculptures, paintings…endless my loves…truly endless.
Cannot wait to hear what you think….I love perusing anyone’s artwork…seeing through another eye, another mind…another world. Keeps me inspired….keeps me evolving. Thanks Vincent…and all of you that let us feature your beautiful works of art.
Cheers and Beauty!

My home is currently a haven for the creative process,…my formal dining room has been transformed into my 17 year old’s electric guitar playing and learning room,..he uses his laptop to learn how to play new songs from artists who teach online,…and he wants to be near me in the kitchen so I can witness how great he is doing….

Good Morning all! Wanted to say thanks to all for the congrats yesterday. I felt like queen of the day! Will share with everyone the surprise tucked inside…Chiclets maybe…LOL…The artwork is breathtaking!! What a mixture of talents….I was pondering the soulful home and remembered a home I went through once…It had family pictures and memorabilia everywhere…some were professional photos some were snapshots…some were framed exquisitly some not…there were little glimpses into the life of the inhabitants of the home everywhere. Sort of organized clutter if that makes sense… Even in unexpected places such as the WC…for some reason this spoke volumes to me… It made me want to live there and be a part of it…since then I have little by little tried to fill my home with these same kinds of things…moments in time…life snapshots that mean so much to my family…it goes so fast…my fridge is covered, my bulletin board is covered, my walls are slowly becoming covered, I love it! A home is a comfortable safe haven from the storms of life… Just my thoughts what soulful feels like to me…Have a terrific Thursday everyone! Foggy here so I’m lighting candles all over my house…Stacie
….five things I forgot to mention that I always have in my home,…it just seems lifeless without them…..and they bring our vacation homes or hotel rooms to life instantly!!!….(
Music,…candles…personal photos, bowls of fruit and fresh flowers!!…xoxo Desiree
What a splendid selection of art – Tracy, thank you for sharing – I enjoyed browsing that website very much – so much talent out there.
Valery! I just got caught up, listened to yesterday’s radio show (I need more curtains!), read yesterday’s blog and, Valery, your words about the snow teaching you to fall with grace and the moon teaching you to embrace change, etc – LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY – you are LOVELY!
OK, soulful home – such inspired thoughts from everyone. I’ll share one of mine – my absolute favorite thing to do ON THE PLANET is plan trips and travel with my husband and children – see new things, eat new things, spend 24/7 together sooooo I bought a very large world map, had it mounted on foam core board and framed and I stick those colored map pins in it any time we go to a new place. I think I need to surround it with framed photos of us on the road – so much to do!!!!
Thanks to everyone for ALWAYS making my day!
HAPPY, THURSDAY,..DAY BEF. FRI., EVERYONE!!!!.. Really pouring here, in NY,…awaiting the snow, and very strong winds,…they are calling it a
“Snow Hurricane”, that’s a new one,…never heard that one before,….Hope all of you, are having better weather….
TRACY,…Did’nt get the FULL, podcast yet, it’s only broadcasting abt. 15 mins. of it,… I should have gotten the full show last night but did’nt get any of it then, and now it’s only abt. 15 mins. long,….hope they fix that soon,…..my ENTIRE, life would be TOTALLY!!, ..DESTROYED!!!..:)….The art work looks really interesting, some of the work is really good,…I love how these young and talented artists, are able to put onto canvas, interpetations, of how they see things through their eyes,…My DAD, was an artist, but alot of his paintings were lost after he died,..:( sure do wish I had at least one of them……
I’m gonna check out esty.com like SarahKristi, suggested,..should be fun if she says so,…you guys never fail,….LOVE YOU ALL!!XOXOXO
Tracy, thanks for asking about my arm…..healing every week! I have been catching up on some good reads lately. Now, for the art….SPECTACULAR idea on your friends part! There truly is so much talent on the college level and I am all about giving credit to where credit is due! As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Credit belongs to the man in the arena!” Anything to help these students along………
Stacie–congratulations! Wonder what the surprise will be?? It was fun hearing the show yesterday live as it’s school vacation week here–no carpooling! And soulful homes, what a wonderful topic. Those magazine rooms really are staged within an inch of their lives–all glory and no guts. Even those karate-chopped pillows on the couches. Yikes.
Julia Cameron, who wrote the increidble Artist’s Way, was writing about pearls, but this fits so well with creating a soulful room, too: It is the interruption of equilibrium that creates beauty.”
Hoping everyone’s equilibrium gets interrupted at least once today!
~Lauren
OK….now I am going to talk about myself again….heh no one else will listen and I have no one else to tell….so you can read it or not….your choice…after all things are always our choice to choose….lololo… When I lived in Hawaii….Oaho…I got tired of sun bathing and touring…so I got a job in an Investment Art Gallery….oh my God……literally…..I touched Salvidore Dalis’s…..Rembrants…..Picasso’s……etc.now mind you I didnt do it when anyone was watching……I was just in awe….that they sold for the prices that they did…..and…. there was an artist…that I got to meet, her name was Margaret Keane…she did what they called sad eyes in children and women…..or big eyes…that was such a wonderful experience it made me appreciate art…..now some I dont understand….Like Dali’s, limp wathes….he had to have been on drugs and was…in reading about him and going to his museum in Florida….any of these pieces you show attract the buyer…….I am sure…..I will have to tell you someday about my art work and how I got it……funny, fun story….later XOXOXOXOX, thanks for listening T………….I am what I am……tooooooo!!!! Divinely inspired to inspire everyone I meet…..loololo…some dont get it……!!!!! Oh well such is life…..in the fast lane!!!! The only rules I go by is the Government rules and God…….the rest……well thats anther story…….I am an open book…….I have nothing to hide……its wonderful……bye

Have you ever had someone like that for a neighbor? Genuinely good people? Of course I am also admiring the map on the side of the bag…JUDY, love your map idea!!!!!!!!!Great to see my shole yard drenched in sunshine…it’s shaded in the summer. Tracy, Thanks for sharing, I am such a lover of all things artsy and soulful. By the way, did you happen to catch that little number titled Hippie Hill? Instantly I had visions of Tracy Porter frolicking across the field wearing your flirty Daphne dress.
Valery, do tell more…I love open books. I am a tinge of green just hearing about your run-in with some of the masters. Visiting an art museum for me is like opening an epic tale. I can just feel the history and emotion all around me, as if I were in their world.
Well,……..this Mustang Sally has been in neutral for way too long!!!!!!!………. I have the key in the ignition and I am cranking this baby up…. this day!!!!!!! I am cruising down that highway of LIFE,…..I’m not looking back…….and i certainly am not slowing this Mustang down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!……… Ahhhhhhhh Ride Sally Ride!!!!!!!!

I am glad it looks like WendyM2 will find good weather when she arrives…Have fun!
Hey Val…Dali was interested in Freudian symbolism and imagery. Used them a lot.
Anyway, sounds cool. I met Warhol once and I have a sketch he did in Sharpie…a very fast one, but one nonetheless, signed to me.
And very soon after, he passed away.

Oh boy…Cameo is back! Ride Sally and do it looking smashing in your new boots!!! I’ve only been here a short time but have enjoyed myself so much. I’m used to all your banter so when your absent I’m wondering what’s wrong…I’m a worrier…working on that..yes Angela I’m wondering too…fell asleep guessing to myself what’s inside my little package coming. It feels good to be excited with anticipation! All this soulfulness is making me get started on a project with my 19 year old wedding photos…the digital age is going to help me tremendously in this venture and you ladies are helping me get motivated!! In starting this I found a whimsical little poem I wrote to my hubby and I when we started our life together…I have had it hidden all this time and now it’s time to share with my girls…they’ll laugh but it brings a tear to my eye…..

DESIREE….YES,I CAN HEAR YOOOUUUU!!!!!! Hot pink roses…oh baby!!! Thanks for sharing…where do you live…east coast? Fire and hot pink roses…you have got it going on girl!!!!!!!!!!…Keep cozy, Margie
well this has inspired me to dig out my canvases from college, restretch them and slam them up somewhere! maybe that will add to the soulfulness of my house! i’ve also been planning forever to do a photo gallery of family going up our staircase, and it’s high time to do that as well. what really makes my home soulful i think though is having things that belonged to my grandmothers’ that i now have and use in my home… an antique mirror from one, my dining room table from the other. so many great memories.
oh, and my mom bought truffles from home goods over the weekend, so i passed on the truffle butter recipe! can’t wait to taste it…
my soulfull home is overflowing with the 6 of us before any of the stuff is moved in!
Loving my TP jewelry and fantabulous clothing…. so many compliments, so little time!
I had such fun listening to the Radio show this morning – thank you for the sisterly comments, tips and chatter – so great! I had a flood of memories from two trips to Europe as a teen with my Walkman cassette player – Italy in 1986 it was Phil Collins and Ireland/England 1989 it was Natalie Cole, Unforgettable. I can see the countryside going by in our family rental car when I listen to those soundtracks! Alas Science Fair weekend for us was 3 weekends ago but I must say that I have never really felt like drinking a margarita after Wednesday morning school drop off in the whole time my kids have been in school except that day! I did not DO my kids reports – I really have to find patience when the other parents obsess about this stuff because I am grateful for the learning experience for the kids, period. Did not drink it but certainly dreamed about that cocktail!
What makes my home soulful?
~ the stack of blankets on the ottoman in living room, some from my Grandma, some from the little girls phase – all just folded and stacked and ready for people to snuggle up and watch a movie or play cards. Really not a big TV fan but it’s funny that we watch Dancing with the Stars because my grams watched it when she lived with us and it helps us remember her – yes, love the teaching moments we find there also, great point.
~ the door swinging open and closed with family stopping by! My house is in “town”, my family lives in the country and our house is the hub. I have meetings, friends over to swim and my uncles just stop by any time. Sister, sister-in-law, cousins, the more the merrier! They all understand when I need to step out for a while but Mi Casa, su casa and it’s great!
That’s all for now – I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I LOVED the college art website and shared with my FB friends – thank you for this wonderful idea and connection!!! Now just gotta go make some money so I can buy these beautiful pieces! xoxo, Kathleen

Tracy and Girls…TraLaLa…I had a great bloody Mary today at a Rodeo luncheon. It was garnished with pickled cactus and quail eggs…Yum. Just had to share!
Durls – I am MOST definitely going to NYC regardless! Neither rain nor sleet nor snow (well you get the picture…) And I will recreate a couple of Tracy’s shots at the Bowery (Tracy – you are now so famous we can recreate your famous shots like pictures of the Beatles crossing the street in Abbey Road!).
Cameo – so glad you are back and I am SOOOO jealous of the boots – OH MY GOSH – they are to die for!
Tinsel Trading? Another item to the list!!! And someone mentioned Century 21 though I am not sure if I can afford even 70% of some of those crazy designer duds!!
And I LOVE it when you talk about yourself Valery! And Angela – much thanks for the good vibes on the prom dress. It is a very delicate business – if I look too interested, she will not be interested at all; if I feign disinterest, she will love it. And that, is the joys of a mother-daughter relationship!!!
NYC – Lock up your silver – I am on my way!
Thank you for sharing this web address. I passed this along to my college aged son for his friends. He “commissioned” a friend to do a painting for their living room apartment. He bought the canvas and paints and she did the work. BEAUTIFUL! I told him I was absolutely smitten with it…that I wanted it when he was tired of it.
Also- wanted to comment on when John did the radio show. I SO enjoyed listening to him. Tracy, you can tell when he speaks that he is truly your other half. The pride in both of your voices as you speak about one another is truly endearing and lovely.
Keep up the positive vibes~
Julie
Soulful Home…
Candles aglow at all times of day.. (especially upon awakening… listening to calmimng music after prayers.0
A fire in the fireplace at all times of day too… (the dark morning is so delightful when begun this way…
SURROUNDED by books, books, and more books… on every shelf in the Gathering Room… up to the ceiling…and so many yet to be read.. ‘calling to me’….
And recently .. in the last month or so.. eating dinner in front of the fire with my beloved husband by candlelight, and soft music at the over-sized coffee table… with placemats, cloth napkins… seashells and stones gathered from our walks on the beach… with our dog snoozing at our feet. ahhh.. a bit of Heaven On Earth….~*~*~
Loved seeing the artwork. One of my daughters has an art degree, the other one has an “interdisciplinary art degree (art and music) so I was so happy seeing this type of Website. I have not listened to the radio show yet, I will on Saturday. Also, have the “Tracy Porter” emails stopped????
We are finally going to see Avitar. We must be the last people in the country to see it!
What amazing artwork! Such talent. So cool of you to share with us, and I am definately checking out that site… really cool of you to spread the word about it.
xoxo

Hi Tracy and lovely ladies, I think what makes my home soulful is that I always try to bring as much nature into my home as I can possibly find. I live in the country on about 14 acres and I love it for so many reasons. One, it’s very private and I can run to my garden in my jammies and my hair all crazy. But the biggest thing is all of God’s beautiful creation to enjoy. So I’m always searching for things to drag into the house so to feel connected to that creation. I to love, love, love all things mossy. So I find all kinds of mossy goodness to warm up my living space. I also collect birds nest and cool branches with great lichens, they are such a gorgeous color of green. My Husband is a general contractor and specializes in historic renovation so he also brings me all kinds of wonderful treasures like great old windows and neat old trim and wooden do dads of all kinds. I will take those goodies and transform them into functional stuff I can use or sometimes just set pieces on a shelve just to add character. My home is not picture perfect but I feel it’s warm and welcoming. I also sew and make alot of stuff for the house like curtains, duvets and pillows. I loved some of your suggestions for different ways to use curtains. I may try the one about hanging them behind the bed.Maybe even hangs some artwork on top of them for yet another dimension.
Well those are just a few things I feel that make my home soulful. I always love listening to your show and getting to hear your great ideas on decorating and cooking. You are a real joy to listen to and I want you to know that your joy is infectious. The winter here in Alabama has been very gray this year and some days it’s real hard to feel motivated and happy. Then I turn on your show an spend an hour with you or even just visit your site and graze thru all the beautiful stuff and I begin to feel my inspiration well up inside me. Thankyou Tracy for sharing yourself with us and helping us all to become more true to ourselves in the process. Hope you have some green spring forth in your little plot of heaven there in Wisconsin. Stay calm and carry on! xoxo Nancy S
DO YOU ONLY SELL YOUR ITEMS? I MAKE BEAUTIFUL THINNGS TOO AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU AND MAYBE YOUR CUSTOMERS? POSSIBILITIES? THANKS,GAYLE
Hi Tracy,
Finally found the time to listen to your last radio show. It is so enjoyable to listen to you that I want to make sure I am able to take in each one. I think how I made my home more soulful was by painting every room of the house with bold, courageous colors…names such as Raisin and Eggplant. I put up grass cloth wallpaper with a lot of texture, put large pillows on the floor. We have a wood burning fireplace and I love it when I walk in the door and can smell the wood burning, makes it feel so cozy and welcoming. I think the real key to making your home soulful is to fill it with what you love. The colors you love, the furniture you love, and of course Tracy Porter items. I always say everyone should have some Tracy Porter in their home. I love to give Tracy items as gifts, they are so unique and everyone loves them!
My SOULFUL house….tubes of oil paints,Painting ,singing ,playing with my kids ,looking out my BIG windows ,all the colors running together on my palette, noisy bird out my window at usually at 3 in the morning, oh yes and my kids have to wake me up early but its just too cute.
What a lovely thought—”soulful home.” So much SOUL is found in our kitchen! Bright-colored bowls, dishes, and my favorite cook—my hubby, bring rich and happy soulfulness to our home, especially since it’s open to half the house. You never know what concoctions are stirring in there and I absolutely love it! After the kitchen, I think our fireplace, which seems to be aglow most of the winter, brings that warm and cozy soul to our home. And last, but certainly not least, is an entire wall of bookshelves… what is more dreamy soulful than that? This wall is a feast for the eyes and I so enjoy moving things around to give it new presence from time to time.
the firstone is so sexy!!
Fantastic! So glad you shared this, I am actually passing it on to my daughter who is a BFA Major! Thanks so much..
