Enchanting!!!! That sums it up……..I can’t imagine how wonderful your gatherings are and all the great conversations it must create. Was there a seashell on the table? And I love the ivory/mother-of-pearl silverware….I have always loved it!!! Do your boys just love it too? It surely stirs the imagination (and appetite!) So enjoyed the show yest. and after thinking about it……you sure covered alot in a little amt. of time. Good morning Tracy!! I so loved your video today!! Can I just tell you…I think the one main thing that I have learned from you over the years of reading your books, watching your videos and blogging with you..is layering! You’ve taught us so well to layer not only in fashion and decorating but also in food prep!! Your tablescape looks delish and so inspiring as always…please keep doing what you’re doing…we love you for it!! Happy day to you and yours!! xoxo
Gorgeous table Tracy! You’ve inspired my day, yet once again. Can’t wait to put the luscious layering tips to use in my decorating this weekend. What fun I shall have!
Love it Tracy! Your bits of wisdom and whimsy make me want to set a table right this instant! On another note…wore the searing retro halter dress with tall brown boots to my husbands company holiday party last night and got compliments galore!! As an added bonus, when red wine was spilled on my dress it just blended into the colorful design!
I’m just sayin’…..it’s a multi functioning dress that way!:) have a jolly good day!
Yes, I too have converted to the idea of layering, love it!!!!!! clothes, decorating it’s all good!!!! I have a question for those out there who have the red shoes???? It says that they fit small, I have Tracy’s silver ballet flats in 8 and I’m usually an 8 but they were a bit big for an 8, though I still can wear them beautifully. What do you think?
I’m going to listen to the radio show today, I didn’t have time yesterday, it is always good to look forward to!!!! Plus do alittle Christmas decorating!!!!!
TRACY – Her Royal Highness of Tablescaping! I am in agreement with the other bloggers…..what a joy to even be a fly on the wall during one of your gatherings(or a kitten under the table:). Pure sumptuosity! Thank you for the tips during the season to pull out all the stops! BTW…..Just like old times yesterday!!!!!!! We passed in the night! BUMP to you! I commented yesterday and then, of course, you chimed in 15 minutes later!! We missed each other again. ……I left YOU a story of TP Inspiration from none-other than my son!!
Thanks again!
Mary Ann
Always checking to see what is on your menu for the day….Another delicious video to serve us up sweet goodness and a great sale for us! Thank you, Thank you…I am excited to dive into my Christmas storage boxes and mix it up with your wonderful designs. Just a note, I had to move out of my brick home on the lake to a 1970,s daylight basement suburban home and it is starting to feel like my dream home again because you help inspire us and we decide to look through our rose colored glasses…I really have them too, on my secretary desk, just in case I need to put them on. Again, thank you for the sincere transparency you give us. Have a wonderful day to everyone and your fans!!!
Hi Tracy:
Just listened to you and John from yesterday’s show and it was great. I must tell you that your nuggets of wisdom and information are helping to keep me calm during this holiday season. I’ll be picking up the Sting CD and thanks for the fashion tips — I plan to wear my TP to a couple of parties next week.
Question for a future radio show — you mentioned the book(s) you’re working on I believe in the first show. Can you give us an update, perhaps a peek into the next book and when it will come out?
Thanks and I’ll be listening next week!
Linda
OOOHHH! Tracy..finally got around to listening to the podcast from yesterday’s show…please pick me pick me for the “jollification” giveaway!! I would die over those jewels Tracy!!! xoxo
Hey there, everyone!!….LOVE the tablescape, Tracy!!…thank you for the ideas and inspiration….we’re having friends and neighbors over for New Year’s Day, and I’m looking forward to creating a lovely table for our guests….KYM, I am a size 8 and just received the Social Whirl red ballet flats a couple of days ago….they are a little more snug than the silver ballet flats (which I also have and which were a little too big, so I put a pad in the toes of those which solved the problem)….the red leather is beautiful and as soft as butter, so I think they will stretch a little….I wore them most of the day yesterday, and they were fine…since there are no half sizes, I’m sticking with the 8, as a 9 would be waaaay too big…they are the perfect shade of red and the perfect cut (a tiny bit of toe cleavage, but not too much)…you will love them…..hope this helps!!!….cheers and happiness to all!!!…warmly, Kat
Just got the electricians into my home and they hung the Tracy Porter Gorgeous Pheasant Light Fixture…(positive reinforcement to Us)..the two electrician really like it..my husband came home and kept mentioning how great it looks…and then my 23 year old son came over and did the same. WONDERFUL quality and AMAZING details….and H-E-A-V-Y! yup…the guys got a work out putting that baby up!
Perfect mix.. Elegance without being over the top..great by my stone fireplace!
Thank you for creating such a special light fixture
Oh my gosh SAM……….THAT CHANDY IS TO DIE FOR……I BET IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!! You lucky girl………..
Tracy…so glad to hear you don’t polish the flatware either….I’ve been buying up at consignment and antiques shops for awhile and wondering if worth the work to polish. Thanks for the ever inspiring videos!!!
Tracy, what you do is allow us to exhale while enjoying the holidays. We all have busy schedules and the last thing we need is to worry about polishing silver or making everything “perfect.” Seems like such a waste of time when all we really need is family, friends, and Tracy Porter-inspiration during the holidays. Love the table! xoxo
Tracy…just barely coming off my “high” from chatting with you and John yesterday…my boys could NOT believe I got to talk to you!!! LOVE the video…I am crazy for your holiday decor videos anyway…and I agree with PAM, you have taught me so much about layering in my decorating and my wardrobe…even today wearing jeans, a sweater, another sweater vest, and a leather vest on top of that!!!, but wearing it with confidence is KEY, and something I learned from YOU!!! Lots of JOLLIFICATION going on here at my house…I love it…and YOU!!! xoxo
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the tablescape!! Perfection… Really like the idea of the off center “centerpiece” and the subtle colors of the pieces that you chose. Looking forward to all of the Christmas goodness you’ll be sharing in the coming weeks.
~Denise
Tracy, thank you for today’s video. They are always such a treat! As always you give wonderful, simple, casual, yet elegant ideas that are so very doable. Love the ideas of off centering the table scape and using a mirror for the base. By the way I do polish my silver. My parents have the gift of hospitality and I grew up with them constantly entertaining. (They still do.) One of my jobs as a child was to polish the silver. So, for me it brings back happy memories. Besides I love the instant gratification one gets of taking something dull and making it shiny. May all of your days this Advent season be shiny & bright. Christmas Blessings, Nancy
Tracy….Good Morning and Great Happy Friday…..Loved that you layered necklaces….in your video….Years ago I saw Ivana Trump….and she had like from her throat on down covered with necklaces….I loved the look, if you gotta em wear em….its like decorating your body….sometimes I can wear as many as 4 sets of earrings…..and the tinkle in my ear is just wonderful….I even have these earrings that fit in the inside of the ear lobe….got them in Santa Fe 20 years ago….I thought they would be great for people who cant wear anything but real gold or there ears get soar….anyway love you today…and was even more thrilled when I opened my new Horchows and they was your lighting…It says “Illuminate the room and emphasize the details with some TRACY PORTER romanace….” that must make you soar….all your hard work paying off….I am so proud to know you and yours!!!!….have a super day….. I have a great week-end planned myself….going to my Sons and baby sit while they shop….Heres a cute one Tracy…..my Grandaughter who is 6 mentioned getting an Ipod….her Mother said….oh we will have to ask Santa….she replied…Oh Mother there is no Santa just tell Grandmother….lolololololo I loved it…..I will buy things for them as long as they are respectful, thankful and courteous!!!! Later my Dear!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I just wanted to say…in buying earrings this year they are just real big and great….so instead of buying new ones, I wear multies and it looks like one big one….why buy more….when I can make them look big myself…..fun, fun, fun!! Pierced and clip ons…….and then like you sometimes I only wear one……lolololo, depending on the mood and what I am doing that day….dressing up or dressing down……….XOXOXOXOXOX See there again I always have something to say or something cooking in my brain….bubbling over or maybe a slow simmer………lololololo
I happened by here about a week ago because I was looking for something to get me motivated for the holidays and all of the associated wonderful fuss.
I seem to be a bi-polar decorator of sorts. I swing between wanting everything festooned and embellished and extravagant and then wanting to purge every last bit of clutter and mayhem that requires dusting and live in a minimalist cool environment.
Like right now, the back of my car is filled with stuff I (was going to) drop off at Goodwill. Now I’m rethinking this when I see the wonderful vignettes of mismatched everythings.
I thought at forty five I would have settled into a some kind of life philosophy regarding my personal style…..but just like I was still the kid in college I’m the same person who, in turns filled every last bit of almost okay pottery I ever made with a candle and sets it around my dorm room with umbrellas from China town hanging from the ceiling…. and also the same person who gave everything away and wanted just a mattress on a wood floor with perfect white sheets. Am I never going to grow up?
So… the question I have for anyone who knows what’s a good answer is: How ever does one have it all when having it all means literally having it all and, at times, not seeing any of it?
Does that make sense?
Anyway, that’s my imponderable at the moment. And nice to meet everyone,… or anyone.
Tracy, I love the Necklaces that you are wearing in this video! I know the lovely gold number is ART OF DEVOTION, such a cool name, … But what is the other piece you are wearing?
I started to tweet! Check out twitter.com @mamacooksalot.
Have a great shoot! Dreaming of what else you have to inspire us with.
oxoxo
I absolutely love my Tracy Porter Vivre dinnerware. I purchased a set of 12 in August and I have had 3/12 of the set CHIP. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m not putting it in a dishwasher or microwave…any ideas of why this is happening? Has anyone else had this problem?
