Simple, Quick, Spot On………Holiday Noshing in a Snap!

There are a few ways to go for holiday entertaining….you can make all the food yourself……you can buy all the food…or what we do is a bit of both! I will not steer you wrong……… You see, I have this insane love all of things tasty, well that goes for life in general…but then, I’ll admit………food does win me over much of the time. I can wander around a wonderful grocery store for hours of mouthwatering looking, learning and shopping! Especially if it is a truly top notch grocer or specialty store…..makes me weak in the knees!! I know we’ve chatted on this before but I will continue to share my love for all noshable treats!

There are a ga-zillion places you cans shop online….and while it’s not quite the same as wandering through the aisles…it is still quite a lovely time! I am already filling my online baskets with treats for family and friends at several delicious venues. You know me by now….no stressing the holidays my love….if you can shop some + make some, then why not!!…There’s no shame in ordering if it gives you a few moments of calm. Plunk your goodies onto a few smashing trays or bowls and darling you are on your way to yet another enchanting holiday gathering!!

Cheers and Tasteful Noshings!!

Xoxo,
T.

I can hardly look at an image like this one without biting my fist..and wanting a sip of wine….ok, yes, and smelling my fingers in hopes that some form of cheese transference has magically happened. There I said it.

I went to college in the same city as Formaggio Kitchen…it is renowned for its yumminess – wins Best of Boston awards all the time – so I’m not at all surprised that you would have sniffed it out, Tracy – you do have a nose for the best of the best!!
I’m with you on wandering the aisles of a good shop or grocery…my fantasy is to do so overseas, to see what it’s like and to comb the shelves for goodies…anyone wanna come??
Cheers to creative ways to make the holidays relaxed and pleasurable!

John and I went to Chicago this weekend for a gorgeous night out with some lovely friends that we have known forever… then John and i spent Sunday just xmas shopping for the boys…..too much fun, always so inspiring to pop into stores and see all the jollification! I have a little project in mind for us this afternoon, fin loves using his hands and doing anything creative….plus a good way to break up the day….we are going to make little xmas village out of playing cards, cut them and glue them etc….they love legos mini figures so these might be fun for the boys to play with….!!
hope you are all well….
MARGIE , yes, yes…Formaggio is fabulous…and really you cannot go wrong with tasty gourmet as gifts!!
KAT….i used to feel the same way… thought i had to make it all…then kids came along and well…..a girls has got to pick and choose!

Hi Tracy!!! I hope you and Finn feel better soon! Until then enjoy your home nesting time! Aaaahhhh!!!,….earthy, crunchy, Frenchie….feeling the love,..just made homemade croutons for my French onion soup!! All of these yummies look amazing! I had to go grab a bite of smoked swiss cheese and some spiced nuts to go with my mulled hot cider after seeing all this goodness today!!….I love your reminder about perspective…I live by this everyday!,….Feeling so happy and blessed to just be! Also, thank you for the idea of using burlap bags as Christmas baskets. I am putting baskets together for the staff this year and I think I’ll use these bags,…very French indeed!!…….
saw White Christmas last night and thought of you….Snow…la la la…snow!
Have a Holly Jolly Christmas…it’s the BEST time of the year!!!…

Bummer…the flu? Please rest up and don’t feel obligated to blog today. I was curious if anybody recognizes you on the streets (of Chicago), because if I had been downtown this weekend and saw you I would have been so excited and shouted your name out in opera!!! You weren’t scoping out a location on Mich. Ave. for a new store….were you? JK…lol!!!Where do you like to do your “high teas”? Did you get to it this weekend? Xmas villages out of playing cards is a very cool idea…hope Fin feels better soon too, rest easy (and alot if you can)!Margie

Another great food addition (and pantry staple) is beer bread. And plain beer bread…why fill your pantry with 50 different flavors? Then in the basket add small packets of DELICIOUS spices. Two tablespoons mixed into the dry beer bread mix…add your beer…and TA-DA! Instant flavored beer bread. What a fabulous way to add a great touch to tomato soup supper! A great gift for the person who has it all.

P.S. – love wild boar salami! Had it in the Longeduc region of France when staying with friends. Missing their fire roasted mussels right now!

LOVE these ideas! They are perfect for mixing and mingling and all that other wonderful holiday jollification! I go most weak-in-the-knees for the blue cheeses – such an acquired taste for some, but oh-la-la!!!

I hope you and Fin are on the mend, soon! I, too, had the flu last week, but it was an awesome opportunity to catch up on some magazines and to catch “Meet me in St. Louis”, which I always associate with Christmas, what with Judy Garland singing one of my all-time faves!!!

Tracy, Hope you and Fin feel better soon! I am a retail pharmacist and the flu is rampant this year. The cough is the worst, and definitely a hot toddy is as effective as most cough syrups…precious Fin may need a prescription!! (I have some really neat turn of the century cough syrup bottles, and they were 80% or MORE of alcohol.) Add some honey to your hot tea. It is soothing to the throat, and delicious. I am a firm believer in the power of bubble baths to make one feel better, add in candles and a good book! If all of this fails…don’t try to be supermom…go to the doctor…better living through pharmaceuticals!
