Snack Tray Idea

This snack tray idea for kids has been something we’ve done for years. Always makes the kids happy!! These work for a million reasons!…and I will tell you why they rock our world…Any season, any occasion…happy little campers indeed!!

  • You can personalize these snack trays…..all kids have their favorite snacks and this lets you sneak them in!
  • They are superbly easy to clean up…..I always use paper muffin cups….( lazy and lovely!)
  • They are easy to make ahead and stack in refrigerator , for your own kids or company kids!
  • When kids are sick this will bring them top to bottom joy….our little guy Gus calls these ” Goodie Trays” ( or in his speak…Duddie trays)
  • They can be super junkie or healthy…we go mostly healthy with 10% junk…
  • Perfect for sampling new foods….these are sort of a modern day TV dinner..( i always did love those!!)
  • These snack trays incredibly portable…just wrap with plastic and you can take them anywhere…picnics, etc!

Happy times for all!

Cheers…and bountiful snacking!

xoxo

I LOVE this idea! I will be using it for my granddaughter… heck… I might use it on myself. Great portion control, right?
When my kids were little, I used to tell them we were having “smorgasbord” for lunch. All that meant was I was putting tons of little things on their plate with toothpicks. Two of them are in their twenties, and they still talk about it as their all time favorite thing I did for them.
So simple… yet so cool.
One more… we used to promise the kids a “Popcorn Party” which only meant we were going to plug in a movie and pop popcorn. They were wild for it! Call anything a party, and it’s all good!

Happy Monday, still a little sleepy from the time change, I think the kids are moving a wee bit slower too.

Tracy, thanks for the great snack idea…which reminds me to share my darling friend Julia’s twist on the snack cup idea. She wrote the book,
“Cook It in a Cup!: Quick Meals and Treats Kids Can Cook in Silicone Cups”
A great gift for kids and it comes with the Silicone cup. “Party in a Cup” is coming out this next September.
Off to the races, enjoy the day.

Such a cute and simple idea Tracy! I have used muffin tins for votives and potpourri but not for snacks. My son loves to cut up things from the garden so i could so see him doing this. Oh – speaking of my son i just have to tell you what he said!(he is 13) I told him last week that i won a $300 gift certif from you and he says, “that’s really cool that a company does that, i know North Face would never do that!” (he loves North Face apparel) It is really cool how well your company treats its customers! You are definitely top notch Tracy Porter! Thanks again!!!

Love this idea! I am always telling my mom about how great you are…that you are creative and have great things but also that you are so into your kids are are such a wonderful mom. I love that they are such a priority in your life, as successful as you are. I am definitely going to do this when kids come over, so fun! It would be even fun for a date night/movie night for us!

Happy gorgeous Monday morn!!! It is sunny and the birds are singing…..and the cotton is high….SUMMERTIME….and the living is easy….
ok, ok…so I am a bit pushy on the springtime thing…..and i do so LOVE that song…maybe that could be my theme song for this weeks LIVE radio show….hmmm…let’s see a show of hands!!
NO…VALERY….darling today is not my birthday….but i love you for asking!! Is it yours???hmmmm………yes, yes…isn’t the muffin tin thing fun….we even do it for dinner…or picnics….we may even “over use” this idea…but small portions and loads of goodness….i would like mine filled with smoked oysters, nibbles of artisinal cheeses, lobster salad, prunes stuffed with foie gras, rumaki, olives, stuffed grape leaves, coconut cake, passion fruit pastries, rose flavored macaroons …you get the idea….this coming from a girl who is about to eat a spinach salad from subway for lunch……ah well…..I am a dreamer you know!!!
what would you put in yours…do tell…….love you so!!
xxxxx….happiness to all!!!

Tracy! This is pure genius! Why have I not done this before?!

I am so stealing this…..

Aww!! Duddie trays! I love them!!! This is a truly inspired thing Tracy and I will use them for my 18 and 15 year olds this very weekend!

And I can picture my own grown-up version – expensive cheeses, olives, meats, a champagne flute perched precariously…. Gotta love it!

Oh Tracy-That even makes me hungry! Reminds me of the Little Mermaid Movie with Cher and Winona Rider. I always loved to do special food with my kids, but never did the muffin tin thing-great fun. We would go to the specialty fruit section and get all the weird and wonderful things to try and share for a carpet picnic in the dead of winter. You’re never to “grown up” for those! You always bring back such good memories, and I love you for it!

This idea is simply genius! I know when I serve snacks for the next ‘playgroup’, my girlfriends will ask, “is this another Tracy Porter influence?”- they are on to my fascination with new ideas from your blog and it is so fun to share something great, isn’t it?? Many thanks!

During the summer, when I’m home, we do Muffin Tin Mondays. I got the idea from a blog a few years ago. It’s so much fun! The girls love it, and you’re right! It’s a great way to sneak in new food choices. I love that it’s so easy to clean up, too. Oh, we have so much fun looking for fun ways to fill the muffin tins. Your’s looks really yummy!

Brilliant!
Maybe I can try this and sneak some healthy snacks into my kids with the novelty of it. If only I had tried this when they were little!

I love this idea! I am new to your blog. But I found this post and I will be trying this out on my son who eats almost nothing. I hope the novelty of the idea will entice him! Thanks! -A
