Will have to go back to video…but first wanted to relay info on our ARTIST. She called from the hospital early this morning. The poor dear was taken into ER last night…a surgery this afternoon; another tomorrow. She asked for prayers and to let the durls know she hopes to be back online this weekend.

I’m inspired to fluff up my porch now..this weekend!! Durls, I have an update on ARTIST, she went into the hospital overnight last night when the pain became too much. She is to have a procedure today and have the gallbladder out tomorrow. Send her some healing thoughts and prayers…I know you will. She sounded a bit groggy on the phone, medicated for pain, you know. Also she’s a bit anxious…none of us likes hospitals, do we? But her hubby and son and our mom, are all there so she is well taken care of. I’ll keep you updated. xoxo

Tracy, Loved the video. I have a sign on my front porch that says “come sit on my porch” often the door bell will ring and seeing noone at the door I find friends sitting on the chairs on my porch. How fun. Our porch is small and your dogs would not even fit on it. Artist pray for your quick recovery, and that you will be home soon. Pam enjoy your free time now, would love to be close and help with the new baby, must be the grandma in me. Babies are the best. Rainy day here in Wi. All have a good day.

TRACY, you are endless…I can’t wait every morning to see what your next inspiration will be. What I love is that even if your ideas hint at something that we already have in the works, your inspirations just add another layer upon layer of great things that we can incorporate to add beauty to something we have already started. I had just spray painted my wicker furniture again trying to get one more year out of it before Doug throws it away. It is creaky and falling apart, but I love it so much I just keep making it last one more year. We do not have an enclosed porch, which we really do need here in MN, but we have the patio underneath the deck and I have some ideas stirring to make it more appealing and comfy. Thanks for your ideas on the porch …Everything you do is so timely. I am so glad that your healing wing hasn’t put a kink in your creative juices!

GRETCHEN, please relay to ARTIST well wishes for a good surgery and blessed healing. I loved her idea about adding a baked potato to my salad bar. Tell her I am going to use her idea!
SANDY M cuisinart? is it hard to clean after you have used it? will I really use it a lot? These are the questions I have…it seems as though I will be too lazy to get it out to use, but I may be wrong.
Desiree, I was cracking up about the MaryKay car. I may use that on Sam in another year…
CAMEO, I feel so for Demi. I had such bad cramps at that age that I would have to stay home from school. I hope that she isn’t experiencing that! I’m sending good thoughts her way.
SHAWN, wedge salads with blue cheese are my husband’s favorites. They are so easy, I need to make them more for him. I played the flute too. I haven’t played for over 30 yrs. I am impressed that you are taking it back up. GO GIRL! Your weekend sounds so fun. I also checked your videos on your blog yesterday. I loved what I saw. I need to go back and spend more time. You and your family are adorable!
GOOD DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL GIRL’S. Won’t we all be sprucing up our porches!!!!!!!! :)

Tracy,
I was just thinking last night that I was going to set up my porch today and then her is your video!!! Perfect timing. I like to add an outdoor rug and also a bunch of hanging lanterns.
Is the top your wearing one of your designs? I love it, so vintage looking. Let me know if it will become available.
Also, can we see the rest of the porch – how its all set up?

GRETCHEN & VIRGINIA – Thank you for letting us know so soon about Artist so we can send prayers and healing thoughts for her. It’s reassuring to know she has family with her and is in caring hands. It was very thoughtful of her to send us a message with all she is going through. Tell her we love her and all will be well – her angels are with her.

Tracy,
I, too, LOVE your porch…but, my favorite part of the video today was your dogs! You were a true pro to be able to stay focused while your dogs were playing in front of you….I was just cracking up! Second, is that top you have on something new you will be selling because I LOVED it!! Where can I get it? I’ll have my eyes peeled. Have a great day and hope you are healing well…yes, vino always helps!

Good Morning Lovely Ladies and TRACY! I’m painting my deck furniture as we speak! Lots of great ideas, once again TRACY!…..do you get rain coming in on your porch? I can’t leave too many nice things out since our daily thunder storms dampen everything! Cards and cribbage boards are kept right inside of the
bar so not too many steps to get to. Love you, ARTIST, glad you are being taken care of!
xoxo Come back to us SOON! PAM, how are you feeling? What a SWEET picture….you nursing
Finn on the porch, in the sunshine, or at the
beach….xoxo KELLYG! Love all the pictures of your home, especially the river stones in the sink….it’s such a great look! Are you in MN?
I get you confused with someone in AZ. Forgive me! And what a gorgeous pond! Is it stocked? DESIREE, dear I love you for making me giggle EVERY day!! Mary Kay car indeed! What a GENIUS idea! Way to go, mom! DAWN, did you order the finials from that web site I sent, or did you find a better one? Didn’t they have great ones? Can’t wait to see the pictures! I picked up 3 red pepper,
1 grn. pepper, 3 flat leaf parseley, 2 thyme,
and 1 lemon basil plant yesterday to plant in
the triangle beds with the other basil, rosemary, cilantro and dill plants. Get outside durls and get creative!! LADYEM and I are going to Castle Rock tomorrow to a place called The Barn…an antique mall of sorts. Hope I find some big antique garden gates for
the outside wall to hold some gorgeous viney flowering shrub! SHAWN, sounds like a spectacular weekend ahead! Take lots of pictures and have a blast! MARY ANN, are your
boxes done yet? Get busy durl!! xoxoo!
Love to all, make it a great day!

TRACY – It’s so nice to see you back to form. You look great, my darling!
Your porch sounds like the hub of your home in summer – games, food, dining, relaxation – all in the fresh air. I can see the dogs love the porch, too! Playful as all get out.
I grew up with a porch, but it was very 50’s and 60’s casual – web-style lawn chairs and recliners and a plastic hammock. YIKES! But I tell you, it was heaven out there and we had more fun.
The important thing is being together and feeling like you are outside, yet protected from the elements.
I went to a seminar last weekend given by Dr. Sara Warber. She has studied the effects of nature on health and documented so many benefits. Even something as simple as having a view of a tree as opposed to a brick wall or parking lot in a hospital, causes faster healing and less pain medication needed. Fresh air, sunshine, and plants/flowers are vital to our well-being and the studies are there now to prove it.
I enjoyed all the comments yesterday – the banter with ARTIST & CAMEO, the humor of PAM, DESIREE,MARY ANN, the ideas for salads were flowing, VIRGINIA, your two sounded scrumptious!
SHAWN, I checked out your video and the Wedge salad was another awesome way to do it. So good to have you back!
All the healing prayers and conversations really focus our energy toward each other in such a loving way. Not to mention all the creativity you can find here. It’s a very energizing place, yet soothing.
Thanks everyone for all the zest for living that one can find here on a daily basis. Sending my love and hope!

ARTIST…HEALING PRAYERS, SPEEDY RECOVERY, WE ARE ALL THINKING OF YOU SWEETNESS! GRETCHEN, please let her know how much we are thinking her!

Thank you guys for checking out LABF (lifeatbuttercupfarm) blog. I LOVE every person who takes a peek! The blog/videos have forced me to STRETCH myself in ways that I never thought possible. When I started doing the videos…I was so self conscious and WOODEN sounding…I have LEARNED SOOO MUCH for TRACY and SARAH about how to have fun, let loose, and enjoy the moment while taping…

THE FESTIVAL…I will try to video/pic this weekend in a way that you can see what is going on…I have to be careful about putting photographs, videos of people who don’t consent…but, I think I can put something together. TTFN my friends….Shawn

I’m sooooo glad to see you just being yourself… We have a screened in front porch, and I haven’t gotten around to doing anything with it yet….We have a couple of wicker chairs that came with the house, hmmmmm…..I think y’all have given me some great ideas! PAM, nursing out on the porch, I think I might do just that today with Sam (almost 4 months old), what a lovely idea! KELLY, you continue to inspire and amaze me! SHAWN, I can’t wait to see pics/video of your Irish Weekend! I laughed, becuase I was just playing from my book of Irish Fiddle Tunes a couple of days ago, I love Irish music, and Irish dancing, one of ours took Irish dance for a few years, and I loved seeing them perform! I know you’ll have a wonderful time! Gott run, Sam is getting hungry! I think I’ll head out onto the porch! :-) Blessings……

TRACY I wanted to see if you can talk about a great Toppic: Women’s purses and bags…mine is always messy…any tips advice, how to chose a purse….or can we share what we put in our purses? I thought it will be fun and you can talk about your bags you sell too!

Hi Durls,

Just popped in to see everyone while I’m having a quick bite before my lesson. I finished one chair so far….in between laundry
and a few long chats on the phone! It’s super windy and clouds are moving in, so no gardening again today….Back to salads on yesterday’s blog: If you like cottage cheese,
add chopped tomatoes, chopped green onion,
or any veggies, cucumbers…etc. add a little
Lawry’s seasoned salt and pepper and yum! It’s what I’m eating right now. Last night
I made a salad of 1/2 spinach, 1/2 chopped romaine, craisins, blue cheese, toasted walnuts, TRACY’S dressing, and fanned pieces of warm roast pork tenderloin on top. It was
a hit, and Andrew LOVED it! ANNIELNB, I hope
you’re relaxing while nourishing little Sam…
I was so happy to have been able to nurse both
my boys. I loved watching them while they ate!
Send pictures…I mean, of just SAM!!! LOL!
Ta for now….thinking of you constantly ARTIST…hope you’re out of the OR and resting
soundly. Big hugs…..

Who doesn’t love a porch. I have a nice large covered one that is exposed on the sides. I love having the breezes blow on through. Lots of outdoor living on there throughout the summer. I did just find two cement Foo’s and they look terrific on the porch step.
KELLY G…..maybe you have a friend that has a cuisinart that you could borrow for a time to see if you like it. It cleans up in the dishwasher no prob.
Artist…You are being well taken care of I’m sure and will be your old self soon. Bet you’ll feel better than ever. Probably didn’t realize how bad it was getting. Our thoughts are with you.
Tracy…..would love one of your beautiful green lanterns for my porch. Will they be coming back?

TRACY – I hope your hand is healing quickly…glad to hear the cast is off!!…I, like so many others, would LOVE to have a porch like yours(and PAM’s and SHAWN’s)ALAS… Like VALERY said, move the indoors outdoors! My sister has a big beautiful one — the reason they bought their house:) — and I’ll pass along the ideas. They LIVE out there all summer too!
VIRGINIA and GRETCHEN — Thank you for the info on dear ARTIST!!! I was worried about her yesterday. She didn’t “sound” like herself in her post:( She must have been feeling terribly!! Please tell her we are all thinking of her — even though she already knows:)I hope she is comfortable now and that her surgery goes smoothly. SHAWN — Your porch is so great!! I’m sure you are going to get a million compliments on it and everything else at your home from the 400 PEOPLE!!! who are coming to be IRISH-Y at your place. I hope the weather AND your flute playing is perfect:)!!! BTW – Your blog is GREAT. You do a wonderful job!! Like I mentioned before, the photography is superb!! It’s another nice place to “visit” when I can:) KELLY – Have fun shopping with LADY EM…AGAIN:) And no, the boxes aren’t done yet:( Maybe to Home Depot this weekend?? Or perhaps I need a trip to KELLYWOOD for my Woodworking and Gardening Classes????? PAMELA — You are so right. It’s something we all sense – the calming effect of nature around us – but now there’s proof!! Thank you:) CLAUDINE! If you want a porch I’m thinking YOU could probably BUILD one yourself!! Since you know your way around electricity and all:)!!! And I’m sure you’d look SMASHING doing it!!CAMEO — hoping Demi is better today:) And about your platter…I read that the translation of “vivre” is “to live” or “life”. How appropriate:)
Have a wonderful day!!

TRACY-you have one of the prettiest porches I’ve ever seen. Love the stone floor. Love that little green lantern on your beautiful desk. Thanks for the inspiration. I have a wooden floor porch and chose three different paint colors to paint stripe affect. So each plank is painted different color.(cream, taupe and brown)

VIRGINIA & GRETCHEN~ THANK YOU for the update on ARTIST. Send her our love!! definitely thinking good thoughts and prayers for her!!! i’m so glad that perhaps she’ll finally get some relief from all that pain.

CELINE…what a cute idea about purses! It made me think waaaaaay back to when I was a teen…my brothers LOVED going through my purse. It was a mess-filled treasure trove. NOW, I cannot live without a purse organizer. You can get them lots of places; but I’ve had mine for a while through http://purseket.com/
A FUN activity when you have a bunch of women together is to have a Scavenger Hunt…of purses. You have lists on the table (each table has a different list). Whatever table crosses the items off WINS! It can be quite funny. Get creative with what could be in someone’s bag.

We are keeping you wrapped in prayer, love and sunshine!

Tracy:
Thank you for the daily videos……they really keep my week humming along. I am in PR and came across your story several months ago in the business weekly newspaper- while searching articles for work. I was facinated by what I read and logged on to check out your site. I have been checking in almost daily since.

I am a busy mom….soon to be grandmother and the busy factor in my life had gotten to the point where my creative spirit had nearly been snuffed out.

Your site and ideas have helped revive me and bring back the women I once was and thought I lost. Thank you, thank you. I don’t believe that you will ever relize just how much of a life line and inspiration that you have been to me.

After watching your Easter videos I really came out of my shell and created a lovely holiday (decorations, desserts, glorious table setting) that had my 12 year old daughter commenting on how much more wonderful this Easter had been from years past. I owe it all to you…. Please keep up the videos I do believe a great TV show is in your future.

Now it seems it is up in the air as to whether or not they will remove the gall bladder tomorrow after all. But any way she is resting comfortably. I told Andy (her son) to make sure he told her that all the bloggers are asking about her!!!! She may be released tomorrow. I’ll let you know. xoxoxo

Ahhhh darlings all,

I’m done for the day, painting at least….Have a nice mellow Merlot in a pretty stem, and
getting dinner together….Yes, another salad!
Andrew’s request…..loving it!! Mexican steak salad….grilled ribeyes, seasoned with
s and p, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder,
and a touch of cayenne…add black beans or
garbanzos, green or red onions, black olives,
corn kernals, atop coarsely chopped romaine,
sprinkle crushed tortilla chips, then salsa
mixed with a little sour cream for dressing.
Wow, I’m getting hungry…I got four chairs done, will do the table later tomorrow or Friday. After dinner, it’s back to planting…
nine shrubs, some grape vines, etc….the wind
has finally died down, but rain looks imminent!
I have Burt Bachrach greatest hits on…..
Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head just came on….
How apropos!!!!! GRETCHEN, I painted the patio chairs to Tower of Power today….got them done in no time!!! LOVE that you turned
me on to that….thank Dave too! TRACY, you must do a snippet on musical inspirations…
I know you have lists in your books, but what
gets everybody motivated…while entertaining,
or working at home, or doing chores, or while
cooking, reading, meditating and on and on??? PAM, are you going to
have PWS song on while in labor? What’s on everybody’s IPOD playlists? Virginia, I KNOW
what get’s you going!!! You doll! Must go,
ARTIST, love you…have a restful night for
strength tomorrow!! xoxo

Oh, Dear! I’m late again…
So glad to know ARTIST will be getting that gallbladder out – I’m hoping by now it’s out and no longer causing problems, and that you are resting comfortably. May you have speedy healing and be home again creating soon! Until then, just rest up!
SHAWN, your collage is beautiful! And I can’t get over your videos – keep ‘em coming, sister! You’re a natural! And 400 people at the farm? Do you EVER stop? Sleep? Fold Laundry? I am impressed!
TRACY – glad to hear things are going well for you. I dipped out for a few days but I’m back, and will go back and read/watch the last few days’ worth!
PAM – you are getting close now – I can “hear” it in your voice (plus you’re talking about nursing…) – not long now!
CAMEO – thanks for the shout-out! I’m here!
Goodnight all, see you in the morning – I promise!

Artist- Just wanted to let you know that I’m thinking of you and praying for a speedy recovery… I’ve so missed your witty posts!

Tracy- Glad to see your hand is on the mend. You are such a trooper, taping videos for us when you’re nursing an injury… you must know how addicted we all are to the daily dose of Tracy!

I’m having to reign in my porch envy- that has always been an item on my life wish list; a screened in porch to snuggle into and watch storms from. So romantic. My house has a weird brick deck off the back (that begs to be screened in). We use it in early spring but get driven indoors once mosquito season hits (this week, thanks to all the rain) Someday…

Wore my new Frolic dress to my daughters pre-school program and got so many compliments on it. I wrote down the website for 2 people and raved about all the goodies you carry. I seriously need a stack of cards to hand out to people….

Off to look for new pictures on the Community!
