Behind the scenes... inspiration galore!

Okay, so you've heard me chitter chatter with you the last few months on all the goings on in our studio. Well... our catalog is at the printer!!! Oh... happiness! And soon it will ship out to all of you! I hope you are inspired by the mix and find it to be entirely covetable! Each catalog that we do, we literally pour our hearts into... They are great fun... crazy work, but truly worth it!

Remember me blogging on our new bedding designs? Well... they are here!!! Let me know what you think... Plus loads of new fashion... delicious jewelry and all! New dinnerware that I am not sure which to take home and try on! (But be sure that I will, it's how I learn...) All of our books are shot in our home... so the chaos level goes up a few notches... Our team is incredibly respectful that we have a young family... and the boys think that photo shoot time is about the most fun. They follow everyone around, always looking for a job of some sort... Check out the bridge... They loved being involved... even Gus! Alhough he kept wanting to run back up the hill to start again... Hope you enjoy!!

p.s. We are already flipping the house upside down, re-painting every surface adding delicious layers everywhere... to prepare for the next catalog... I will share as we go... so far I am loving it... our white master bathroom is now the most intense emerald green... I'll keep you posted!!

xoxo,
Tracy

Tracy, This is constructive criticisim. The new china patterns are lacking something. After intense study I have decided it is the way they are painted. The color is flat. It is not as painterly as your older patterns. I love everything you do and these designs are wonderful but they do not have that hand painted look. Thanks for listening.

I can't wait to see your new catalog!
I LOVE your bedding sets, but I am intrigued by your idea of putting the table behind the bed to use as a headboard/place for books, glasses, a drink, etc.! With the smaller tables set in front of the ends of the large table as night stands, it makes a nice cozy surround! It's an awesome idea...and I may just have to steal it for my guest bedroom as I really need a headboard, but havn't found anything that sings to me. Guess the trickiest part would be finding a table with the right measurements. Yours looks hand-made...was it one of your projects?

Oops...meant to add that I was referring to the table behind the bed on your Skylark Bedding photo.

Tracy, I was hoping your new bedding line would include a toile bedskirt. I am searching for one in plum or lavender. Do you have any suggestions? Are you working on any of the classics updated? Thanks!

Hi, Tracy! I have a few questions for you.....

First, you showcase a beautiful large bowl in the Artesain Road collection (You have it displayed with lemon aide drinks, I believe).....is that piece available? It looks like an AWESOME piece that one could do 1001 things with.....I would love to know how to get that piece and call it my own! Please, help! :)

Also, I know that you design all of your pottery, lighting, bedding, and furniture from your Wisconsin studio.....do you also design the jewelry, handbags and clothing? If so .... I am in AWE!!! I have a wish list a mile long and it just keeps growing!!!!

Hi Tracy, Just one question--- You love animals so much. How can you justify using a zebra skin in your Artisian Road picture. I admit it is quite stunning. It just goes against all I thought you believed, loving animals as you do. Tell me it's fake please!

Dear anonymous,
It is an actual Zebra. I have owned this antique for 20 years. It was given to me as a gift. If someone is interested in this look I would suggest searching for one online in wool or synthetic. I think your question is a great one, and I thank you for asking but my love for animals has been misunderstood by others in the past,( ie; selling leather shoes and purses and displaying ceramics on a zebra) so....while I DO love animals and was raised on a horse farm...I am not a vegan. I wear leather, I eat meat, I own down and wool items, I wear makeup and use other cosmetics...eat eggs and drink milk. I Always appreciate the reach out.
Thanks!

Hi,
A few questions from days ago to answer...the table behind the SKYLARK bedding photo is handmade. Actaully my husband John made it from birch trees from our woods. It is so cool! We needed something rustic and narrow on our porch so one day he jumped right in,made it in a day..... it is one of my favorite furniture pieces that we live with. Yes, we are designing, handbags and clothing, most of that will come out this fall. We will also continue to find things in our travels that feel like us that we know you will love as much as we do....I do love to hunt for treasures! ( and to design them!).....yes, the gorgeous dark haired woman is my sister Robyn. Not only is she a true beauty to look at...she is a remarkable ,talented woman with a heart of gold. I am lucky to say that my sister is one of my dearest friends!

I forgot, the Artesian road bowl question. We don't sell it anymore on our site. However, search online for Artesian Road chilling bowl .I know someone will have it...It is lovely, very large. Good for lots of ice and wine bottles or sodas...etc.

Tracy, Do you have a Zebra line of dishes? I saw one piece and have to find it. Is it an older out of stock pattern or what? Please reply. Thanks so much!

Tracy, I have seen lots of pieces on other web sites that are not on yours. Is this a retail agreement? If so, does that mean there will be other bedding in stores?

Hi There,
Yes, we do have a collection of "Zebra" patterned dinnerware. It is called TUNISIA you can find it online at Neimans and also Horchow, it's an exclusive that we did for them. It is a gorgeous dinnerware pattern, reds, blacks...intense colored plates, bowls, mugs and very nice serveware. Check it out....now as far as tracy porter pieces /designs on other sites that are not ours....I'm not certain I am understanding your question but I will try, let me know if I am getting where you are coming from. Basically , yes...you can find TRACY PORTER designs on other web sites, as we do create many designs that we sell to other retailers...we sometimes do exclusives that only they get to sell, or they may buy right out of our main designed lines that you may then see on a range of websites. On our website many of the things we design are exclusive only to us....our bedding , most of the furniture items, many of our dinnerware patterns etc.only to be found on tracy porter .com & our tracy porter catalog. This allows us to differentiate ourselves and not compete with the other retailers....as we do want them to sell our things as well. I hope this is what you were asking?? I just read back through many of the above comments and realized I did not chat about the comment from anonymous on the 17th, sorry. Yes, I can understand that you see a differance in our dinnerware patterns, I do see what you mean. As we evolve I supose we have the need ( if you will ) to always design from the most inspired place we can. Sometimes what happens is that we evolve away from a look that you may have fallen in love with...a certain layer or color pallet etc. I get it....same thing happens to me with new music ( i want new from them but sort of the same).......I never want to abandon our past designs ....more than anything want to grow them , let new things seep in....allow the creative process to happen. But...the "flatness" you are speaking of is not intentional from that standpoint....more just a design direction on those patterns.....I so appreciate your comment. this is how I learn too....usually more from the constructive criticsm than all the nice comments.( mind you any of your comments I find to be humbling...either way) Beleive me, no one is more critical of us than me....I am an "evaluater"...and I really try to apply all that goes on around me, so that we may grow and push ourselves. I think it's very healthy to look inside and be honest with ones self....

Hi CC, What is Innocent Traitor about? I just finished Friday Night Knitting Club. It's not a deep story but is about female relationships. Easy read, kind of a Steel Magnolias set in NY.

...Hi there!
the Zebra "lotus" pattern is not available anymore...maybe try replacements.com or ebay...It was one of my favorite collections. If not a wee bit exotic for most.
Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir is very good!! I am not to far either, but...basically it's the story of Lady Jane Gray...the nine day queen of England. It's historical fiction, well written and very interesting so far. If you don't know the story, she is Englands briefast monarch...her parents groom her to be the perfect consort for Henry's son Prince Edward , who dies. She becomes queen for 9 days and dies on the chopping bloch at 16 years old. As horrid as that is, it really is quite fascinating to read.
Diane, i am so sorry you have not recieved a catalog. what may have happend is perhaps we recvd. you name between book. You should be getting one in the next few weeks. PLEASE do let me know if it doesn't come!
I am so glad...yipee! you are asking about the videos, we needed to get our tech. right. And...we now have! Soon you will start to see more videos. Please do let me know if you like them...or not...or if you want to see certain things!! Yes, we will do some on fashion as well!
