Emotional surrender...

Oh, how I have... to the LOTUS COFFEE TABLE... Perhaps this sounds odd? Surrender to a coffee table? Can it be?? You might think... a new pair of leopard shoes... or a fabulous shirt... Not today!! Today, it's this... this one. This scrumptious one! And this is why... We just rearranged all of our furniture in our great room at home, and have made a wonderful new reading spot... I NEED this most luscious table right there!!! Loving, just loving it! I love bamboo, as you know (another weakness). It’s a scorching gem, this one... and quite perfect near a couch (or in my case, a few overstuffed chairs)... I knew when I was designing this beauty exactly what she had to be... I am very inspired by Moroccan looks... I thought the layer of black hand-painting would be delicious with all the other elements. It somehow manages to be refined, enchanting... and quite handsome, all at the same time. I love the idea of it on an old, tattered red oriental rug... or on a gorgeous black wood floor... all beaten and worn with age. I love that I can sit near it (or our kids can) and play a game while sitting on a pillow on the floor... We are pretty laid back in our home, and things really do get used... I know that this spicy number will end up with scratches from matchbox cars rolling over her, or whatever else our children choose to drag across her top... It's all good to me... and my emotional surrender will be entirely satisfied!!! Stay tuned...

Hi Eyeryone

I'm Tracys mom Nettie. I am the cook, gardener and collector of antiques. I wish I could say decorator, but my husband Dave does
all the decorating. He even sets the table for our dinner parties.
How lucky am I. I will share recipes soon.

The 3 of you (along with your sidekicks) are off the chart glorious. Do you ever have to pinch yourself? How blessed that all that family is in such close proximity - the love is felt...even in TX! Can't wait for the recipes...and you might NEED to order the Cloudberries cookbook. Mine is coming via amazon next week. I'll let you know when, Artist in NC.

Hi to all of you, Oh how you have played with our emotions talking about Robyn's home. You MUST show us soon!
Nettie good to hear from you. Snow time is wonderful blogging time. You forgot the Tracy tales. We'd also like recipes-easy and delicous. We could keep you busy all night.
Hello to Tracy's Dad. How wonderful that you have these talented women in your life. I have 3 sisters and my Dad was always outnumbered too. The easiest way to deal is to join their endeavers.

Nettie blogged. Yeah!! She will have to tell some fun Tracy stories. Tracy can come take videos of my house anytime to share with you all. My pantry, well it is very organized and lovely....but my mom laughs when she comes over because I still have not used my Kitchen Aid mixer (we moved here 3yrs ago) Yes, Tracy is right I do love to eat at Nettie's. You will all see once she posts some recipes. Tracy, yes I would love to be in the summer catalog as long as mom is cooking!!! Also the best griller around is my dad Dave. His ribs are amazing. Yes ladies, he is quite the decorator.

Robyn, do you have little ones? I don't know how your kitchen aid has escaped use unless you're single. My 2 are grown. Both finished college this year. It's been a real change knowing them as adults but a wonderfully freeing one. Not so much responsibility, just fun and lots of love and support as they enter the real world.

artist in nc I have 3 daughters. One is grown the other 2 are teenagers. We just have a really busy schedule between school, sports and there social lives (as I am sure you understand) I do cook sometimes......there are many other things in my pantry I have used. The kithcen aid is just a fun ongoing joke with our family and now all of you. Yes, I have wonderful relationships with all of my daughters. I love as they are getting older what great friends we have all become. Are family is very close and I want to keep that with them as my parents have with us.

Robyn, Artist, and anyone else out there that has been there done that (or in the process of doing it)....y'all will have to give us pointers from time to time in raising teens...we may have to be a support for each other in the raising teens as well as make up department! HA We have three children. One girl and two boys. The two older ones are in their teens (17 & 15) and our youngest is on the cusp of becoming a teen. It's been fun watching them grow up. Like you, Robyn, I want more than anything for us all to stay close as they grow into their own adulthood. Family....it truly is a gift, isn't it?

Robyn - 3 girls to Tracy's 4 boys. What great memories you'll make - with Nettie's cooking and Dave's ribs, hanging out on your "property," the bridge in the video. And your gorgeous homes!!!! Your children may never leave!!! (And CC - you DO want your kids to leave...). :)

CC, The best advice I can give you at this stage is LISTEN. You'll be surprised how much you can see of their world if you bite your tongue and listen. Also, teenagers need a parent, they already have friends. You be the rock they can depend on and get unconditional love and advice. You sound like you already have a warm relationship. It's the best!

Thank you for your words of wisdom, Artist. I truly believe you are right. Listening is key...and, I have to confess I am a "mean mom." You're right, they have their friends and I do keep our relationship seperate....One day I know we will move to a different level.

Hi Tracy,
I love your spring catalog which I just received. I am an interior decorator working in a retail setting. I would love to have my own business but I do not know how to narrow down my ideas to start a successful business. How do you do it all and not go crazy? Also, you look amazing! What is your secret? Please tell us mortals who are feeling insufficient but want to fly with you.

Virginia...I'm IN!!!!!

I'll have to share a funny story with all of y'all soon.....Regarding a trip up north....

Virginia and all the Ta Ta's......I have to tell y'all....the other day I was determined to check into flying to Wisconsin for the big sale in the fall. WELL.....I got on-line and got airline price quotes. Then, I checked on the hotel rates. When I plugged in my desired dates to stay at one particular hotel it came back with a message stating that I had to stay a minimun of 21DAYS! Thinking I must have done something wrong I called the hotel directly. It seems that Ripon is hosting some sort of air show and that truly is the case....a minimun stay of 21 days!!! I thought that was so funny....who would have ever thought!?!?!

I'll keep looking for other arrangements. I'll let y'all know if I find anything else.

Tracy....Artist may be on the right track.....can we have a "Blogger Blow-Out" via the Internet?????

February 11, 2008
Anonymous artist said...

Please Tracy, a blogger blow-out would be such fun!!! We could never all get to Ripon. We COULD all shop one day together on line with a great sale . You know you want to empty your warehouse. I sound like a spoiled child begging. I am now stamping my foot on the ground!!!
Do consider this please!

Yes, girls... do come north! You will love it... maybe come in May (after your bluebells have bloomed) + then our flowers will be ready for your visit. Georgies is spectacular + the TP store will be a gem.

Dear Decorina, no need to narrow your ideas... just jump into the pieces that make you the most passionate... the rest will fall into place. Remember, one thing at a time... and if you truly LOVE what you're doing - you won't be overwhelmed. I truly can't wait to jump out of bed each morning... the studio awaits + we have so much ahead of us. Ahhhh, the sweet journey!!! Oh, and thank you for the kind words... I think for me... its as simple as a fork-full of dessert whenever I need one :)!!!! Sugar keeps me flying!!!xoxo T.

Tracy - I've meant to tell you about "our" history. 10+ years ago, my step mom (only 9 years older..a whole other story), purchased 6 of THE coolest wooden chairs for her New England, 100-year old home. They were some of your original Stone House Goods (??) stuff. Each chair has a different animal on it; all a myriad of colors! I've coveted them since. I do hope they are willed to me. :) Since then, I've searched far & wide. I have original candle sticks dated 1995!!!!! They are a wonderful green with fruit painted...13 years old and I STILL have folks "oooh & ahhh." So, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. You can't stop now...and again: that catalog - I am speechless and am tired of drooling.

Tracy - I am addicted to your catalog! I shop through each and every one I receive a million times until the next one arrives:o) It's like a grown-up Christmas Wish catalog! Love, love, love the golden touches on your furniture pieces! My home is transforming from a dark, drab European look to a Tracy Porter catalog show room;o) And..ohh..the bronze monkey bowl..what a find!! Your jewelry...all beautiful statement pieces!! The Katsina monkeys...I can go on and on!! Can't wait to see what you have come up with for fall!! Will you give us a sneak peek??
