A love affair

I adore good movies... could stand to get to the theater a wee bit more... but have always been a sucker for a good romantic movie. If for Valentine's Day (or for that matter, ANY day that you want to be swept off your feet), I would consider these... along with quite a lot of popcorn, a box of milk duds (or any junk food)...... and some tissues. Oh, and another thought... This would be SO good to do in a fabulous hotel with room service!! Pull those shades and press PLAY! You have to let me know what your fav's are... I know it's all so personal... this really IS a short list...

* Doctor Zhivago
* Sabrina
* Gone with the Wind
* An Affair to Remember
* Pretty Woman
* Casablanca
* When Harry Met Sally
* Pride and Prejudice
* The Shop Around the Corner
* Breakfast at Tiffany’s
* The Philadelphia Story
* Holiday Inn
* The Way We Were
* The Sound of Music

All you girls should go and rent Sabrina with Harrison Ford tonight! It is so good. There is an older version but I love this newer one. I also prefer You've Got Mail a remake of The Shop Around the Corner. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are great together.

My all time romantic fave is Cinema Paradisio. It's an Italian movie about a little boy who adores the movies. But he grows up to be a rather dashing Italian lover type. A must see.

p.s. You've Got Mail is one of my all time favorites. Love those N.Y. scenes. One of my goals is to visit the park in the last scene. Also, how could I have forgotten to mention Chocolat with Johnny Depp....whew, he's some kinda sexy in that one!! I have both of those as keeper DVD's.

firstly, i have gone through and read all the background fabulousness and i must say it IS inspirational! i will also be making my husband have a look. i have been begging him to switch gears and run off to the woods of maine to create together! that new thing called file-sharing tried to fix our little red wagon 8 years ago, how much worse could a total crash and burn be if you really have gone for it!?! especially if you crash and burn in the woods by the ocean in the snow? i want to spend the NEXT 16 years of our marriage together after the first 16 spent forever apart. i'm so glad i stopped by (twice) and all the best wishes for more life living to the fullest! we are certainly beginning to do the same.

FINALLY, my movie pic is a kids movie (if your kids are old enough for the subtitles - my 9 year-old kept up and loved it) called mongolian ping-pong. the story centers around a few 7-8-9 year old boys living in middle mongolia and a really big adventure. the scenery is spectacular and we just loved the story. something different and it's at netfix.

whoo, that's a rambler. your story got the wheels turning.

To apicarde, I live around the corner from Nickolas Sparks. He goes to our church. All his books have names of people and places in our small town. The Notebook is everyone's favorite.

Oh, Artist - how cool to have N. Sparks in your home town! So, you and Tracy are both small town girls? The lifestyle must be divine. Everything in Texas is SO big! Big freeways, big malls: ick! So, I try to make my home welcoming and cozy. C'mon on over any time. :)

CC,
Most of the books NS writes are losely based on family or people from our area. Message in a Bottle was filmed on our N.C. coast. The Choice, his latest, is about my neighbors sister. Our town is small and has always been full of artists. Pat Conroy grew up here and is even more loved.

Have you seen the latest issue of Decorating magazine? It is a bhg publication. One of the rooms has plates hanging on the wall behind a sofa. 2 of them are Artisian Road!!!!!!!! I was so mad they weren't listed in the credits. Also, Country Living is giving away Tracy's candles in a cup and saucer.

To answer your art question... I do not have a website. If you will email me I will email back some images. www.dianneballard@mail.com I will not share your email address. I don't mind listing this one because it is my business address.

To Virginia, I bet your home is welcoming and cozy-I can feel it. My town is so small, I have to drive to the next community to visit a good mall. We are on the water( 2 rivers that empty into the Atlantic Ocean). A wonderful place to raise a family, a terrible place for shopping. You should take advantage of all the good things a big city offers-good restaurants, art, museums, shopping. I will say our area is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Quaint is the way I would put it. Not sure how long that will last because tourist are finding us.

Artist, I tried e-mailing you this morning but I have now discovered that it got kicked back to me. :( I will try again later this evening or tomorrow morning. I hope I will be able to get through.

Virginia, I LOVE Old Town Spring! Is that where you are? It's better than right smack dab in the middle of Houston. I am not complaining.....I have grown to call this home but my roots are small town. Artist and The TP Krewe sound like y'all live in picturesque towns. Oh how I can only wish!

...hey girls...just doing a late evening check-in... what a day!! Energy and details galore... sometimes I think the roof is going to burst off of our beautiful old brick studio!! So glad you like the video (not bad... but our audio needs improving... I sound like I'm miles away and screaming at the camera :) As for the hair - no cut - just my new morning fashion trick - hot rollers! I whip them in before make-up + Gus helps me pull them out 10 minutes later and Voila! Gives the illusion of thick (needed), lustrous (indeed) locks... its a great cheat - especially on the few days a week that I try to get away with not washing my hair (true confessions)... Happy night! T
