Small indulgences...

Sun drenched colors and spritely patterns... adorable little shapes... kissed with metallic silver and gold.... What's not to love?? I have always been enamored with bud vases! I think they are so charming, with a single stem, or a grouping of posies... You will find a myriad of uses of them, I am sure... Great to give as gifts (but don't forget to keep one or more for yourself!) I always keep a stash of "littles" like this to bring along to impromptu gatherings, or send to favorite aunties... You know, all those events we try so hard to plan ahead for... but sometimes life just happens along the way!! Bonjour, spring!

Well Tracy, you're right, I don't even own one of these little beauty's (well not yet anyway) but just even looking at them makes me happy. I am instantly inspired an energized upon first glance of these little bud vases.

And yes, though they are wonderful for holding your flowers (especially you Artist, with you're ever-growing garden) they are just as great as art pieces sitting out around the house.

I want one for my bathroom vanity to hold my makeup brushes in :)

You can't buy just one Melissa. You need ALL of them!!!!! They are so bohemian all together. Brings out the gypsy in me. How could you ever pick a favorite?

Melissa, Virginia and I are finished raising children and much older than you. Remember that. Enjoy this time in your life, baubles will come later!

Even though we are much older, I don't have Miss Fat & Squatty. We were comparing notes and so it's on my wish list. Guess you COULD buy the whole gang and as Tracy mentioned on the video, give each away as a little gift. (Or hoard them yourself...)

I keep a bunch of them in my gift stash for last minute wonderfulness for friends or family or occasions that happen upon us....do you keep a gift stash? I prefer to find the perfect little goodie for someone as moments come up, but sometimes you just don't have the time to shop for impromptu occasions. The "stash" has saved me more than once! I'm glad you find them as happy as we do...they do make you smile. I do adore a single imperfect flower tipping out of
them....you know when the flowers in your garden look a wee bit spent, really soft around the edges......also rosemary is quite pretty in them, you sort cannot go wrong.

I have the bud vases on my mothers day wish list. My daughter loves to look at the TP catalogues and she actually came up with the idea.

I used my gift stash today. A dear friend helped me to organize my pantry and a closet. I decorate and help her with make up and clothes and she helps me with closets. She thinks of things that I would never be able to. Anyway, I luckily had a french soap in my gift drawer and it was just right to give to her. I would love to have a stash of these vases though.

Gift stash...YES! My gift stash is my studio. I just pull a frame or a quote plaque and they work for usually any occasion.

Virginia, I must admit (shhhhh) I don't think I could be so selfless and give these little beauties away.

Melissa--too funny you should mention using these little gems to hold makeup brushes - that is exactly what I use mine for!! I have it on a great antique inspired tray that holds my perfumes - so much fun to have a little display of pretty bottles, etc. in the bathroom - and a great way to add a special touch of color!xoxo katie

Wow IM what a cool friend...I have the old series bud vases....not the ones in the newest catalog. Last year i bought 2 sets....one for giftables and one for me. I'm in a birthday club so I gave one...and then I began to get requests. soooooooo that made last yrs gift giving easy. i set them up on my breakfast table in the spring and put roses and random single flowers in them...tres chic...now i love the pariesene pattern so i'll have to order that one for sure. yes i have a gift closet...the fun thing is i forget what i've put in there so when i need a gift its a surprise. LOL...Houstonians did yall go to RoundTop? now i think TP would love going there.

Texas~ No, I didn't get the chance to go....It's been a while since I've been there. It was a lot of fun and I do need to plan a trip back there. Have you been recently? That's so cool that you know about Round Top!!! Yes, Tracy would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it there!!!!

I still am amazed at all of you-my kindred spirits. We all would find such joy in a colorful, small vase. A way to turn ordinary life into something special. A bathroom would be the perfect place for one of these vases. It would be a pick me up to start the day.

Texas Franco-I did go to Round Top this year! Tracy & Gang would be in heaven. I have to admit, though, it's becoming so popular that the prices are sky-rocketing. But, on a pretty day...it is a wonderful drive from Houston! And the chance to eat at Royer's Cafe is always an experience. They charge more if you order pie WITHOUT Blue Bell ice cream. For real.

Hi Priss...The Birthday Club is made up of 10 girlfriends spanning 2 decades in age made up of church friends, bridge friends, book club friends...working girls, girls who lunch, etc. we get together for lunch at a new restaurant (always new ones in Dallas) or a fav place have a longgggggggg lunch and give gifts. so if its your birthday you get 9 presents and your lunch bought for you. when two birthdays fall somewhat close we combine. so very fun...great cards...great fellowship.
CC & VA...didn't make RT in spring but went last fall. you are sooooo right prices have gotten crazy but i usually find a treasure or two. we have friends who live in LaGrange so i always stay with them. We could invite Tracy and the blogettes down and have a convention at their house. they live on 36 acres and have a tres cool house. its been featured in southern living and southern accents...he's a kitchen and specialty space designer in Houston confining most of his design work to inside the loop.
Artist as i recall NC beaches are beautiful...our Galveston beach was kinda nasty last time i went.
Back to the vases...TRACY those are in the top 10 of your designs..

Texas, N.C. beaches are known for their beauty. Miles of white sand that is clean and natural. Shells washed up on the shore are bountiful. It really is THE most beautiful place to live BUT...there is no shopping, no night life, no museums,etc... You have to make a choice which way you want to live. We chose SLOW and relaxed. We love it here until I hear you girls chatter about all the shopping and going. Then I get an itch to be in the city.

Texas Franc - you have opened Pandora's box. 36 acres, near Round Top, blogettes, c'mon! We are SO there! If you plan the 1st Annual Tracy Porter & Blogette Convention, we are SO there...with bells on! And, if we don't have bells, we'll find them at Round Top!!!!!

YES artist i know it's a difficult choice. I was raised in SoAmerica and Africa and my hub in a small town in TX. He said he counted the days til graduation so he could escape...I find the country, slow pace quaint but doubt if i could do daily. I inherited a house in the country. I love to go there, birds chirping, stars at night, no sounds of sirens, no traffic. PEACE. can read a book in twice the time.LOL.In fact when I pack to spend some time in country it's hilarious...books, accordian folders for tear sheets, magazines, TP CATALOG of course, and all things comfy. I love to travel so quick access to 2 major airports is definitely a plus. do u spend much time on the beach? that sounds so fun i love the water.

Oh, Texas..."blogette!" I love that. If you plan the convention, I will definitely be there. Your description sounds so lovely..I am in dire need of vacation. We all seem like such kindred spirits, I can just imagine all the laughter and chatter we would have in person. Just think of all the tips and inspiration we would come back home with!

I have grown so accustom to my pretty little accordian file and tear sheets. (Thanks to my gals...artist, virginia, and CC).

Texas, I used to spend all my time on the beach while my kids played and surfed etc... It was our playground. Since they have grown I don't go as much. All the talk of the sun being so bad for you. I do go shelling and have the most beautiful treasures collected from the ocean but I don't spend the day out there anymore. Our area has the most delicous seafood!!!!! and no matter where we go we drive by the shore, many bridges everywhere and lots of boating too. One of my favorite things to do is go crabbing. Our crabs are wonderful. We do that right of the piers. It's a typical lazy coastal town.

artist, your description of "beach life" sounds so amazing. It still amazes me how God created the entire world to be so different from one place to the next. So we all have our own kind of "life" experiences. And then we get to share and inspire others with our differences!

I've never gone shelling, but I do love seeing and using them as inspiration in the home:)

Don't let Artist fool you. The Magnolia "Ball" was for students in grades 6 through 8...their Cotillion season finale. I have an etiquette consulting biz. It's my heart's delight, can be a hoot...and at times exasperating. But, what of our passions do not have those coming into play, right? The exasperation this time was the fact that ALL year I harp on duh, good manners and RSVP'ing! 4 days before the ball, I had not heard from 30 kids. 30! All is well. The season is over. Cha, cha cha.

From Priss
Yes, the southern sun is lethal, isn't it artist? I never ever go to the beach before 4 or 5 in the afternoon, and seldom get there myself. I have it in my blood though...was born in a hospital directly by the ocean...called Ocean View Memorial. Wild huh? I really could not live land locked...would kill me. Love to stay till the sun goes down....

April 06, 2008
Anonymous artist said...

Priss I'm with you...no land locking for this girl! I have to see the water even if I'm not out there in it. It makes our space so wide open. That ocean is a constant reminder of God's glory!

However, a few days in the "city" would be fun now and then.

Virginia, I want pictures of you dancing! cha cha cha

Dear Blogettes i'm allowing myself a break from paper work. last thing hub said as he walked out the door outta town yesterday was be sure to get some info to CPA for xtension. oh lordy...
CC- wanted to splain my tablescape.big eiffel tower in center of table its charcoal colored. kinda gray, charcoalie placemats, china is cream with charcoal band and silver band. napkins are in a jeweled napkin ring and they are yellow check. at each place setting is a "claypot painted black with french words on it (from pottery barn). inside is planted fake sunflower. and angled in the pot is a seed packet of sunflowers. glasses are the MacKenzie Childs stems that are yellow, black, blue, etc. Tres Chic. VA, I LOLed at your dance. I remember Cotillion. I loved it. I remember those ugly shy boys that didn't want to dance. Now they are big handsome CEO's of whatever.
Artist I know what you mean about the sun. I'm careful...but get my self some Vit D a little each day. My mother had a melanoma at 85. caught in time she's fine. and she was not the profile for it. she has beautiful dark skin that she rarely exposed to the sun. who knew. ok back to the papers have a great day.
