Trays galore!
I am enamored with eclectic trays... everything from antique silver to woven rattan... hand-painted ceramic to wooden inlay... You name it, I collect them... and I truly use them... everywhere! We put together a video to showcase some of the ways I've put trays to use in my kitchen... but you can certainly find a multitude of other ways to display and use trays throughout your home!
Trays are an obsession of mine, for sure... They just help to anchor little vignettes on my counter top. But they aren't just for decoration - they're actually super functional! Each tray helps to organize a range of goodies, keeping them in sight and at my fingertips. So... I have one for oils and vinegars near our cook top. I have another one for soaps and lotions near our kitchen sink. I have yet another one for all my tea essentials (think sugar cubes, spoons, tea packets, honey, etc). I even have one sitting beneath a fabulous urn which holds all of our larger wooden spoons and other kitchen utensils. Plus, as an added bonus, trays make all the "stuff" so simple to move about when cooking, cleaning, entertaining, etc.!
If you don't have a lot of counter space in your kitchen, no worries! Why not keep a small tray on your bathroom counter to hold all of your lotions and potions? Trays and platters make wonderful accent pieces on a side table...just load them up with a small collection of treasured keepsakes. Oversized trays are a great way to keep stacks of magazines in order on your coffee table. Or consider using a beautiful tray at the base of a gorgeous centerpiece in the middle of your dining room table with votive candles sprinkled here and there. You can even hang most trays on your wall with an inexpensive plate hanger or a length of ribbon. The possibilities are truly limitless... I'd love to hear some of your ideas!

I love trays too! I just got a new one and I love it. I found it at www.accent-furniture-direct.com. The colors are bright and it really looks great in my entryway for leaving my keys and wallet. And they are nesting trays so you can put them throughout your house. I love all the ideas you have for using trays in your house!
Ooops! Here is the link- I am new at this!

Tracy, I too have a tray fetish!...love them!!!! My favorites are always footed and usually silver. They are in the kitchen, bathroom, on the bedroom dresser, and on the living room coffee table holding mags I even use one behind my sofa holding sea shells. They help me stay organized and look neater than I actually am. LOL
I love trays too. I have a thing for hammered aluminum trays esp. buenilum trays. I'll have to do a post on them soon.
Have a great weekend Mrs. Porter!
Trays are the best! They are a great way to coral all the little nick-nack that could otherwise look a bit cluttered or messy. I have a few in my home, my latest is a silver one I just added to my desk to hold my containers filled with paper clips and such.
We actually just built a tray for a client of ours. She needed an oversized one for ottoman! I would love to know what you think of it Mrs. TP! I just did a post about it on my blog:)
Thanks for the tour around your kitchen. Love your stainless steel counter tops!
Tracy, I LOVE TRAYS!! I have them all over my house. I really love the one next to my stove, that houses all of my oils, salts, and sauces. There is a tray in my bathroom that I keep my perfume bottles and a funky finial that I use to stack my bracelets on. Like you, it keeps me somewhat organized and they all are different and unique! Some are antiques and some are just cool! Thanks for being SO INSPIRING to me and my life!!! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you!!!

I love trays, too, and especially their relatives, compotes. These small "trays" can hold anything from keys to birds' nests. I love them, and will be on the lookout for more this weekend.
