Cheeky conversation!

Ah, the IF game! (John's sister Ann is notorious for this one... and we love her for it!) Here's the basic premise...... One person asks a question (it can be anything, from the frivolous to the philosophical) and then you go around the room and everyone has to answer... Truth is preferred, but of course, grand embellishment is always a plus!! We love playing this game with friends and family over a long dinner and a big bottle of wine... And while half the fun is coming up with intriguing questions of our own... Evelyn McFarlane and James Saywell have compiled a wonderful book for you to check out if you need a little help in getting started! In their words...
"If... poses hundreds of questions ranging from practical to maddening, moral to hilarious--which, if read alone, inspire self-exploration; if shared, spark fascinating discussions at gatherings, dinner parties, or meetings."
Below is just a sampling of questions to tease and inspire you... Cheers!!
* If you could have any view in the world visible from your bed, what would it be?
* If you had to name the most important ingredient of human beauty, what would you say it is?
* If you could suddenly find out that one work of fiction was actually true, what book would you select?
* If you could have back one article of clothing you gave or threw away, what would you want it to be?
* If you could name the sexiest words anyone could say to you, what would they be?

p.s. There's also a great kids' version by Bret Nicholaus & Paul Lowrie called KidChat... We keep this book near our dining table so we can play this with our boys during dinner. They absolutely adore it... and so do we! Here are a couple of excerpts...
* If something could fall from the sky besides rain or snow, what would it be? (Example: jelly beans)
* If you could be shrunk down to one inch tall for a day, what do you think would be the most exciting place to explore?

Oh yea!!! I love games and I love discussions that make you think deep! What a great conversation. Will be searching for this for sure!
Wonder if I can get it tonight when I go to Target?
What a fun sounding book. Our kiddo's love asking us "what if" questions. :)
Okay this game looks awesome,.. and YES over a large bottle of wine! How fun,.. count me in!! ;)
Jeanna darling, I just knew that game had your name written all over it!!!!!! You are such fun. What have you been up to lately?
So ladies IF you could read minds, would you??... okay seriously I'm going to have too much fun with this ;)
Humm.....Jeanna....to answer your question....IF I could read minds, would I? Maybe, with one eye closed. HA!!!
Yes Jeanna, I most certainly would!! Wouldn' you?
It would be frightening, wouldn't it Jeanna? Maybe I don't want to know: ha!
I would so be a "mind reader" if I could! I love "people watching" in airports,.. malls,.. parking lots... I'm always wondering what people are thinking ;)
Jeanna, you are too funny!
At first, I thought, heck yeah! Wouldn't life be so much easier knowing what others were always thinking...
But then I realized... I love surprises. If I could read minds, no more surprise parties, surprise gifts, surprise kisses...
Good one Jeanna!
Here's one...
"IF" you could have just one Tracy Porter item for free, what would it be?
OH MELISSA!!! That's a tough one....YIKES!!! I'll have to give it some serious thought. :)
Oh Melissa, that's easy for me...One free Tracy item:
for myself-global sugar necklace
for my home-chinoiserie chair
Holy COW Melissa,.. AWESOME question!! But hands down,... one of her chandeliers,.. I've been drooling over those for a couple years now! ;)
Tracy, HELP! I went to Amazon to look into buying the IF game but (Okay, I am blonde!!) but I am confused!!! It says something about a "Kindle." What is a Kindle and do you have to have it in order to play the game? I thought I could get it in a book version but I can't seem to find it. HELP!!! Sounds like something fun to do this summer with our kiddo's. Thanks!
I figured it out!!! Duh on me!!! :) I had to do a bit of searching but I found a hardcopy of the book "IF." Sometimes my blonde self really shows!!! I-Yi-Yi ;)
Okay, Melissa to answer your question.....I too think I would have to choose one of Tracy's luscious CHANDELIERS if give the chance for ONE FREEBIE!!!
Okay,.. ladies let keep this "Tracy" if you will ;).. IF Tracy could design any line what would it be??
That's easy!! Jewelry'
I'm very excited because I think she said she was doing just that!!!
I am liking this game:)
Yes, jewelry! Bauble rings GALORE!
JEWELRY!!!!! I'm with Melissa....Baubles please! ;)
I agree 100%,... jewerly ;) Now I know why we all get along so well ;)
yes, yes....my fault! It is a BOOK....we happen to use it as a game! really fun with cocktails...but as I always say...what isn't...cheers!
The Book of Questions is great too.
Really thought provoking. I bought
this to take on picnics and dates with my boyfriend (now husband of fourteen years!) Talk about getting to know each other! Values,
ethics, morals...if they're honest,
you learn important things about each other. It's small and compact, and we've passed it around at dinner parties too. It's created some of the most wonderful and passionate discussions around our dinner table! This is my first blog, Tracy.
I can't believe how I stumbled on your web site, but it's changed my life and validated everything I've ever thought of how a home that is truly lived in should look! Is this the place where we share ideas?
You're incredible! Your designs, the lifestyle you've created, it's all amazing. I've ordered a few things already...clothes, home decor and am ready to order new ceiling fans, chandelier and bedroom table lamps. Who would have
ever thought of gorgeous AND functional ceiling fans?? Your indigo stenciled wall has inspired me except I'm going a lovely deep kind of boxwood green. It's a huge hallway wall and I've got several "doo dahs", mirrors and such to hang. I'm soooo excited to get it done! Sorry for the long blog...just want to send a humungous THANK YOU for being you and sharing all your talent and beautiful designs!
Hi Kelly,
welcome you'll love it here. this will be a great source of info & inspiration whether its a new book, recipe, make up have to, etc. not to mention all the decorating ideas Where are u from? I'm from TX. TEXAS FRANCOPHILE
Kelly, be sure to look at all the videos under enchanted living. You'll see where we began and it will bring you up to date with whatever we are talking about.
xoxo
Hi, Kelly! Welcome!!!
Kelly My Love!
You are too sweet! Thanks for your kind words! I think you'll find our "blogging community" shares pretty similar thoughts on living......, that a house can be inspiring to you and your family, feel lived in...perfectly imperfect and alive with soul. A few bumps and scratches along the way only help...and really we all have those! as I tell our young boys, a home much like daily life and all the bumps we feel along the way........it's character building stuff!
xo

Hello ALL!
Thanks for your kind welcomes and
ideas on where to navigate Tracy's
web site. I did go to the enchanted living and watched every single video. Just more and more
incredible inspirations! I live in Colorado Springs in an area called
Black Forest. We have forty acres,
two horses, two dogs, two boys and a million and one ideas for this place! We just moved in the end of April. Tracy, again, you constantly validate my need for the
imperfect charm of a truly well lived in and loved home, with dirty kids and muddy animals and the like! Is there a place where we can send pictures of our ideas and such to share? I found one of my son's art pieces that he did at school to frame and hang on my boxwood green wall. My version of the "London Wall"! It's going to look great when it's done! Again,
many thanks for your kind responses! I look forward to getting to know you all better.
Anonymous, where do you live in Texas? City or country? I love San Antonio and Houston for all the great restaurants. I'm a huge foodie so looking forward to trying all of Tracy's recipes too!
Artist from NC, what kind of art do you create?
xo to all,
Kelly
Kelly, welcome to TPville! You'll love it here.
Artist creative the most beautiful artwork. She is a very talented and gifted artist, it inspires me constantly:)
Don't you love the London Wall?!?!?! I can't wait to start my own!!!
Hey Kelly, I'm Jeanna,.. I'm from Wisconsin,.. and I have in-laws in the Colorado Springs area...hmmmm I'll have to ask my man where they live. You'll love it here! ;)
AWWWWWWWW thanks Melissa for the kind remarks. To answer your question Kelly, I am a freelance artist right now, working from home. I do what the market wants...just finished fashion illustration for a yoga company. I do a lot of still-life work because it sells. My fav is very abstract nudes. I had a house full of them until my husband said he thought we were sending the wrong message! LOL So now it's people dressed, places and things! Thanks for asking.
Thanks Melissa, Jeanna and Artist!
Melissa, to answer your "IF" question: I'd have to go with the bridge! It's incredible! Jeanna, next time you visit your in-laws, you'll have to stop by for a visit!
We have family in Sheboygan and will be up there in October for a nephew's wedding. My first visit to Wisconsin!! I know a TON
of people from there that live in Colo. Spgs. now. Artist, you crack me up with all your abstract nudes!! I love any kind of art and would love to see some of your work sometime. I have a small collection of some local artists and some from Sante Fe artists too.
Melissa, get your London wall started!
xo to all!
Kelly
Kelly you must swing by the Tracy store in Ripon and Georgies in Princeton when your in the state! They're not far from Sheboygan! Beautiful city!! Love Lake Michigan, our family does a beach day there twice a summer at Terry Andre'!! My inlaws build condos and such in the Colo Springs area,.. Scott and Lynn Hente.. Happy Wednesday! ;)
Yes Kelly, Tracey's bridge is amazing, I would have to agree:)
Hi Kelly, Virginia from Texas here. Your property sounds much like our Tracy's - such possibilities living on the land. The London Wall and all the layers of Tracy's decorating stir my soul. I constantly go back to Tracy TV (the videos) for inspiration. We've made great friends thru this blog and you'll be amazed at the talent! I am a fly on a wall (no talent to speak of), BUT I soak it all in. Again, we're glad to have you!
Virginia kills me when she speaks of having no talent. She owns and runs an etiquette school for young people and professionals. She has even been on MTV teaching manners. This gal has all sorts of talent and a beautiful home!
Hi Virginia! Kelly here, so nice to "meet" you! I feel the same way about Tracy TV and just the entire web site....it stirs my soul. That's AWESOME that you teach etiquette!! Good manners never go out of style, and the kids these days....half of my twelve year old son's friends don't know how to cut meat with a knife and fork! EEK! I think it's so very important, especially in this cyber world we live in. These poor teenagers and
young adults with absolutely no social skills. I could go on and on but I won't! But CHEERS to you!
Where in Texas do you live? We have a lot of Texans here in Colorado Springs with second homes that stay here all summer. One of my favorite friends in the world lives in Ft. Worth part time. She's a class act as I'm sure you are too! Hope to get to know you better on Tracy's fabulous blog site!
Hi Kelly,
TEXAS FRANCOPHILE here...I show up as anonymous cuz thats the only way i know how to sign in. DUH. Anyway I'm just getting home from a week in Jackson Hole, Wy. WOW my mouth is still hanging open. As the pilot was welcoming us aboard for our trip home he announced that the trip would take 2 hrs and 10 min. and the weather in Dallas was partly cloudy and 101 degrees everyone gasped. How quickly we got used to the 40-70 degrees. I'm sure you experience the lovely mild summers living in CO. Welcome to TP blogs you'll love it.
TEXAS FRANCOPHILE.
